After going through the F50 picture thread i noticed some of the cars, or at least some of the yellow ones, have a black headlight housing.
Was this an option? And why only on the yellow cars? Or were there also other colors with the black housing? besides the Nero F50 offcourse ;)

I've reached my upload limit so i cannot upload the pictures directly onto F-Chat, but here are some examples:

It might be a hint that they are repainted. I think the headlight color is matched to the original paint scheme. I might be wrong though

I've seen a silver F50 with black headlights and another with silver painted. I'm guessing the latter didn't come from the factory that way per 360C's post in the thread posted above.

headlights were painted black when another colour was chosen besides Rosso Corsa at the time of purchase. Cars with different colours than Rosso Corsa with matching headlight housings are usually repaints.

I think the Rosso Barchetta F50s had color-matched headlights as well.

My car was originally built as a Rosso Corsa car with the same color headlights. It was delivered new to a buyer in Texas who repainted all of his Ferraris, apparently, Azzuro blue and when he did that the headlights were painted black.
When the car was restored to its original Rosso Corsa the headlights remained black, making for a rather unique look

I really don't understand why Ferrari would leave the headlights black. Sure taste is a personal thing, but I am struggling to think of anyone who thinks that's good looking.

ANYONE? Who have you based your opinion or poll on? Only thing I see is an F50 and I want one, I never nitpick over the minor detail's such as the color of the headlight's I leave that up to the Civic Si crowd, it's a Ferrari shut up and DRIVE!!

To answer your question, I like the headlights black. I also am a sample of one of only one owner of a red F50 with black headlights. I guess that makes it unanimous :)

    Pretty funny, thanks :)

The paint will sink back into the weave over time, just like the original factory paint did in the first place. The degree depends on materials used and quality of the work.
