A bentley/maserati wholesale dealership? i can't believe they can get away with doing something like this, something seems wrong with this picture. bentley st. louis can't be happy with them right now, unless there's a cooperation between the two, which i doubt. it's amazing they've even posted auction results on their website, the markup seems to be insanely huge for them...

I've always had the feeling that they were a dealership to stay far away from.

To be honest, it's not all a bad idea. Basically they are acting as a broker for buyers who otherwise do not have access to these wholesale auctions. However, this is not a new idea. It also seems that they are taking aim at Bentley/Maser St. Louis with their naming. I don't know why they are only dealing with Bentleys and Masers either. Would I deal with them? No. I'd rather use another broker who has a good reputation rather than risk it with Schmitt.

    Good luck with that !

I've followed their Ebay auctions for years, one of several dealers there that I've heard stories about.

This seems like more a pain in the ass then what its worth. I can see Danny being stuck with cars that he buys for a customer who will back out of the deal. Then he's going to be stuck with a high dollar car that he's in deeper then what he should be. Seems like another desperate attempt to bring in more money.

BUT, in typical Danny fashion, this will be perfect for him screwing customers. Say I want a car that I tell him I will pay $150,000 for. Then I pay him his $1,500 fee. He goes to the auction and gets lucky and gets the car for $144,000. As a normal Joe off the street I have NO access to Manhiem auction results to see what he actually paid for the car. Danny tells me he paid $150,000 plus my $1,500, he makes out with a nice profit.

Indigo, you are pretty much right on the money unless he gives the buyer the sale receipt that shows the purchase price and buy fee, which I doubt he will, or that his customers will even know to ask. I would also think that it would hurt his retail business as well, why not offer this program to all of his customers. Sounds like an act of desperation to me. The question is do you pay the $1500 up-front or on delivery of the car??? I bet it is up-front.

Read the pages very carefully. He's making more than $1500.

All inclusive? of what and for whom? What is a "post purchase inspection?" Is that where you find out what kind of problems the car that you just bought has and how much its gonna take to fix, in addition to your non refundable 1500, transportation to St. Louis costs and the cost of said inspection?

WTF? HMM? I'll bet Bent/Maser of STL have got to love his site. They probably sit and chuckle. The website is scary enuf for me.

i saw schmitt's bullschmitt (hey, i'm pretty proud of myself for that wordplay!) first hand a while back when another f-chatter was looking a tr up there, i went there, saw it, and noticed how many imperfections they had left out of the car's description, not to mention their unwillingness to do a ppi. anyways, i hope people will buy from a more reputable source, i think i'd be willing to spend the 20-30k saved as advertised on their website (which if anyone actually saves will completely dumbfound me) and have a better sense that what i'm getting isn't a lemon.

He's getting sued, that's what he's doing. Hopefully when all the dust settles from the multiple suits, he'll be forced to shut his doors...

People have been suing/trying to sue him for as long as him and his dad have been in buisness. Its hereditary. Don't see him closing his doors anytime soon though.

That was me, RollsOrFerrari. And thanks over again for your help.

Indeed that was probably the most incredibly phony experience I ever came close to after having exotic and sem-exotic sports cars since 1969. That 87 TR was indeed from an auction, and the books and records just happened to get lost on the way to St.Lo - they insisted that the "had them at one time", but that the transport driver or the auction people stole them after the sale.

They also wanted me (insisted, in fact) to put up a $2000 dollar deposit BEFORE the PPI "just in case they sold it over Ebay ahead of me", this so that I would not waste my PPI money!!!

Someplace to avoid, IMHO - and with this prepurchase at auction scheme, I doubt the buyer would have any more recourse than I would have had on the $2K if the leak-down had been about 25% on half the cylinders.

Finally got a 1986 single mirror here locally and am still happy with it.

    Do a search...

Crallscars ended up with a 3o8 with books and spare 'left in the wash rack'...never did get them.

It was Tristram ExzelsiorZ that they REALLY pizzed off misrepresenting a TR chop top, he wanted to sue them for "lost time' for wasting his travel expense to examine the pos car...

Dunno where those threads are, myself but that's the history on those guys deals....
