Hello all, Just got a Dino last week #04280 purchased from a delightful man who had owned it since 1986. It has a newly rebuilt engine with 300 miles on it done by Tim Stanford. I'm located in Louisville, Ky. and I'm sure I'm going to have some questions. George Davidson Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wow!! Great looking car. And you've come to the right place. There isn't a Dino question that you can't get an answer to here. Or two answers, or more!! Good luck, post more pics and some details, Dave M.
This appears to be the same ebay car I bid on a few weeks back; Gerald from Florida. Congratulations, you beat me out on this one. Have a great time with your new toy and give me a jingle if you decide to sell.
Welcome and enjoy the little beast, you are charged with nurturing and maintaining the unthinkable, the 246 Dino. There will be frustrations, agony, despair but when she runs well she is so sweet. You are charged and commissioned accordingly.
If it were the previous owner would have done it. My car has one of those Vitaloni mirrors on the drivers side and I have a new "correct" round mirror. But the Vitaloni has a bigger "footprint" where it attaches, so if I remove it I'll have areas visible where the paint has been compressed. Therefore the big mirror stays. It 's also true that you can see more out of the bit one.
Welcome! Congrats on the purchase. You'll find we just hang out here all day and talk about fender louver vents (308GTB Section) and mirrors (here..)....LOL!
It's nice to have another GT owner in the group for when the sun comes out and all those GTS guys start gloating about their "leakers and squeakers".
I love that squeak! Congratulations on the car! Drive it, Drive it, and then Drive it some more!! Personally, I would change the mirrors and live with the imperfect paint beneath until you decide to suck it up and re-paint. The Dino is all about lines, and those things looks like they came off my Dad's '76 Caprice Classic!
Caprice Classic? Ouch. Now that you have officially been welcomed to the group, we will systematically begin pointing out what is missing or considered incorrect on your car. Then we will debate the definition of "correct". The good news is that apparently we are tame compared to PCA members. ...Keith
I supposed if I took the mirrors off I could use the remote control switches on the dash for the driving lights that I'm thinking about at Harbor Freight.
Of course, that would not compare with my "Iron Duke" GM engine swap... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Outofpocket: Congratulations on taking the plunge, and welcome to our world! -------- A short note to BLUESTONE and 1317wholesale - Follow outofpocket's lead. Talk is cheap.
Actually I heard there really was someone who put a V6 drivetrain from a Fiero in a Dino back in the early 80's when the cars weren't worth much. Anyone ever see that car, or was it just a rumor? Jim
