    (We can't keep meeting like this :) ) If you want chassis numbers you might like to get hold of the book "Handbuch der Ferrari Seriennummern" by Matthias Urban. Despite the German title the text is in English as well. It has the serial numbers for nearly 150,000 Ferraris, with descriptions, colours etc where known. Nearly 1000pages! Available from www.vinbook.com.

    Thanks Nate. You mean we dont have to send large sums to Bern anymore? :)

    My comment about chassis numbers was my sarcasm about picture threads being great and all, but not much use without a positive attempt to identify the cars. I have 2 threads (288 GTO and USA F40) in the Ferrari Supercars section where I try and do just that.

    Same 288 that I just posted photos of, the photos you posted were taken on sept. 15th.

    may I ask where you found them? .... it wasn't until later in the day that I opened the rear engine lid... :)

    Gearbox differential. Unlike the 3X8 cars, the GTO has a Longitudinal motor setup and therefore the gearbox is positioned to suit. One of the telltale features of a real GTO.

    How much is the 288GTO is worth now...??? I see that a couple of years ago, they were on par with the F40 now they are nearly double that of the F40 in value... Recently, I can't find available anywhere of the 288GTO but quite a few F40 around the world...
