A few regional threads, but nothing in general yet? First year I will be going, mainly going to just drink beer with some buddies at the muscle car/hot rod fest at BJ's. We might switch to wine for a few hours and hit some of the other auctions for Ferraris.

What auctions are going on and Ferraris listed to sell?

I realize that BJ isn't much of an auction, but I'm surprised that the whole lot is kind of sad. Not much to bid on, and what there is is so common. Really, despite the couple of modestly interesting cars, this is quite disappointing.

I can afford beer, but luckily I can't afford any of the cars. I'm not even getting a bidding pass. :)

Substitute single malt for beer from 5pm on and you are correct for me also. The Dallas f/chat group has a reservation for 10 forsaturday night at 7pm on the patio of the Old Town Tortilla Factory for a start to the night. Friday we are considering Mickey's Hangover Lounge. Anyone been there, or know some fun bars in the old town area of Scottsdale?

Surprisingly slim sports car pickings this year. A bit of a yawner unless you're looking for big iron from the 1930's.....

I think BJ needs to focus on rare sports and collector cars, NOT NEW cars either, if they want to keep the crowds interest. I've seen too many cars from the 90's and 2000's, those are NOT collector cars.(yet)
Busses, trucks, motorcycles etc , belong at a different auction house.
I always record it and skip the crap. (seems like more and more crap evey year though)

Our friend here in Dallas owned the car for awhile and did some great work to it before Jesse took over. Who knows at BJ, the car was only $25k before Jesse got into it, so IMHO it is worth what the engine and other remaining parts are left. $15k? I'm sure someone will get on it for higher at BJ, but I just can't image. This eccentric stuff doesn't always sell well at BJ.

There will be a very large get together of Ferrari owners (> 80 people and > 30 Ferraris) at the Russo and Steele Auction on the 19th, myself included. I know of quite a few good places nearby to get a good beer.

I leave for PHX next Wed, Jan 16, and am tentatively scheduled to return on Friday Jan 18. Working on hanging around, not sure how well it will pan out. If anybody is in town early, let me know! Will be in N. Scottsdale, near Shea and 101.

Yes, there are some great bars in Old Town and I would also recommend heading North on Scottsdale Rd. towards the Kierland area. During Barrett week we usually hit Zinc, Ocean Club, Devil's Martini, Sapporo's for dinner at least once and for the sheer novelty value- Barcelona. Look forward to seeing some F Chatters at the auction, be there wed. through sat.

Barcelona. LOL. My dad always says let's go, the food is terrible! Who designs a place where the servers have to cross a dance area to go from the kitchen to the tables!

Bring your jackets boys and girls, when the sun goes down and the wind picks up, it gets chilly fast.

Lots of older car guys floating around here, it's pretty funny. The bars are packed with 50 something men in doo rags and black dyed hair.
