in the past year i've been to bangkok 3 times, i like it more each time indeed i just came back 10 days ago after spending one month in asia.
how much fun u gonna have, depends on how much u like this kinda stuff.

i will give u some pointers here:

one week is good length of stay for bangkok.
hotel wises, i have stayed at grand hyatt, mandarin oriental, banyan tree, conrad, JW marriott, i recommend conrad, its on wireless road, good location, relatively new. no matter what u choose, man up to a club level room that includes breakfest, u can not miss the buffet breakfest in asia

attractions:
--- take a day trip, to do the floating market and elephant show. they have a day tour that covers that plus crocodile farm and etc. most hotel can arrange that, or u can walk into local tourist agency and book there, will be cheaper than hotel.
--- take another day trip down to pattaya, this one, make sure you hire a car for the day, cuz 98% of chance you will NOT find a taxi back to bangkok at night. it takes 2 hrs each way by car, go hit the beach a bit, then watch a tranny show, do not bother with the BS tranny show in bangkok, the best stuff is in pattaya, tiffany and alcarza, they are equal good.
--- rest of your stay, stay in the city, plenty of stuff to do. its no secret that thailand economy bloomed with sex industry, so if ur down with that stuff, u gonna have loads of fun. def go to patpong at night. tons of go-go bar, sex shows u can chill at. my personal favor is king's corner III, they have the best looking girls imo. be very careful with men coming up to you trying to get u to a ***** show joint, they will tell u its free too look for few mins, but once they get u in, u don't get out until they manage to rip u off. so stick with go-go bar if ur not sure.
--- food wise, for a quick bite, go to any nice mall, they all have REAL nice food court usually on top floor. for more fancy places, use any guide source such as frommers.com, they are right on the money.
--- if ur into pamper urself with spa stuff, banyan tree is the only way to go, great treatment there amazing service. request for lanmai, she is hot.
--- many foreigners get suits made there. u can if u want. its def better bang for buck there compared to the states. don't bother with the $199 for everything overnight deal, just go to embassy fashion on wireless road(right by conrad hotel), expect to pay about $500 for the set using designer italian fabric.

If you have not gotten to Bangkok yet (sorry, just saw the thread today) here are some of my suggestions having been going back and forth to Thailand for the last 2 years:

1. Siam Paragon shopping mall. Where else does a shopping mall have a Lambo showroom, a Maserati showroom, a Ferrari showroom, and more. Do visit the top area with Passage to Siam next to Paragon department store; intersting Thai made items. I like the Italian restaurant, Bel Guardo, on the bottom floor owned by Marco.

2. There is a real good mexican resturant (strong margaritas too) - Coyote on Convent. Convent avenue between Silom and Sathorn a couple of blocks from the Dusit Thani hotel. Most of the

3. Maha Naga is a fantastic contemporary Thai cuisine restaurant. Sukhumvit Soi 29.

4. A piece of advice on addresses - you may want to print out maps for some of your resturant destinations since the cabs may not know exactly where a place is. Some of the streets are like alleys off of other alleys. You cab driver also may not have good enough English (some are perfect some are not) to understand exactly where you are trying to go. Your pronunciation of a street in English may not be the same way it sounds in Thai.

5. You can book partial day and full day trips from your hotel. I enjoyed the Royal Summer Palace. There is another one that will take you to the ancient capital of Thailand (Siam), Ayuttaya.

6. Traffic in Bangkok is horrible. The worst combination is the last Friday of the month combined with rain. That combination usually means walk or stay the hotel.

7. A word of advice - the King and Queen especially, but the Royal family is never to be disparaged at all. Thais will take this a personal affront.

Don't your police officers carry guns? Ours do but ours is under strict rule not to "flash it" or pull the trigger. The last will mean a full detail report by the policeman & public media explanation. But this is S'pore.

Thailand is generally very safe. Stay away from sleazy areas & you'll be most fine.

I was robbed in Zurich before & right in front of my 3 star hotel in a nice neighbourhood. So it really depends on luck sometimes.

The rule of thumb in travelling IMHO is to blend with the locals & don't stick out like a sore thumb. Be polite & most if not all people will be helpful to a foreigner. *SMILE*

Just need to tell you guys that if you're out dating locals here in Thailand please try to have a glimpse at the 3rd line in their ID just to make sure you got the REAL thing, it could be one of the brothers not the sisters!!!

I guess you know very well that all that's needed is a decent budget any car out there could be modified to look so sleek, and to sound like a real racer. However, the chasis is the one thing that you can't change.......honk honk!!!
