In the middle of playing a game w/ my son and the game has frozen to a gray screen. Rebooted multiple times and the "color" ring is flashing red. What does this mean? Can it be fixed resonably? How can one transfer saved progress at this poiint to another console even?

    thanks

    The 3 red lights...??

Contact Microsoft...then, you will need to send it to them and they will send you another console...

And to transfer things..i don´t know..send a PM to Fiorano94 maybe he knows...

To transfer, I think you keep the hard-drive when the system gets sent out.

I had this happen to me over the summer. You gotta call up microsoft and they will send you a box and shipping tag to send the xbox back. They will fix whats wrong and send you a new referb or the origional back depending on what was wrong. You get to keep the hard drive.

M$ extended the Red Ring Of Death coverage to 3 years.
My 360 is now scratching my discs, and M$ told me to basically F off since it isn't a "widespread" problem :(.

May as well just use it as a new paperweight. 1 co-workers brother has sent his in twice. Another co-workers bro has sent his in 3 times.

    What a crappy product.

Exactly, and M$ really doesn't give a damn! I'd gladly walk, but, I've got a XBL account, almost $2K in games, etc. M$ knows this, which is why they don't care. Like a drug dealer really! ;)

    Got this too. =/

Honestly a cool game system. Poorly designed. And XBox Live with gamerpoints is cool, like a high score where you can see what accomplishments your friends are getting too... but that is... when it is working.

Not really that hard to do when they run $50 - $70 a piece.

I've heard alot about them overheating, you'd think they'd recall it or something. That's what they get for trying to hurry it too the market.

Alot of guys I know and talk to at game stop are saying to buy a PS3 instead of 360, but the 360 has sooo many more games?
When it comes time I think I'll stick with Sony.

The 360 has been out for a year longer than the PS3. I think this year we'll see a bit more games come out for the PS3. But something to keep in mind... the timeline: PS2 launched, XBOX launched, XBOX 360 launched, then the PS3. So... two iterations of Microsoft's gaming system in the middle of two playstation consoles.

When GT5 comes out, I'll be looking at a PS3.

I have a PS3 and a 360, so as an unbiased owner of both i can say this with knowledge on both systems.

The PS3 IS a better system, no doubt in my mind. The only reason that i still play my 360 is because of live. The PS3 is brilliant really. Games are amazing in Hi-Def, which is supported on all games. F1 Championship Edition is awesome, especially through surround sound when you can tell what side of you the other cars are on:p

The 360 however has something about it. I still love playing the 360 and try to as much as i can. Live as i said before is really the only reason im still on it.

Which is exactly why no one will buy a ps3. Everyone wants to play other people now. Rather then just inviting some friends over they can hop online and play millions of people, from all over the world!

I will never buy the ps3 for that reason alone. Online gameplay is jsut too much fun and it generally never get's old. I'm not at all biased either, as if sony would set-up some kind of online community like live, i would buy that in a heartbeat. Not only that there are like what two really good games (MGS, GT5) xbox doesn't get over the rest of the market?? yeah, thanks but no thanks, ill stick to the box.

If it is a new Elite or new Xbox 360 (non-elite), it shouldn't have the problem. The Elite is just as susceptible as the non-elite model.

Still got the old paperweight? I'll buy it from ya if you wish to part with it.

From the research I did for the disc scratching problem, I read that the Falcon processor, which is supposed to reduce (not stop) the RROD risk, was delayed and didn't roll out until units built Dec 07 and after. So it may be worthwile to do some digging through the stock to find a late build date if you're going to play russian roullette and buy this M$ POS! (which I will because I'm a sucker :D)
