I have just replaced my three pedal 03 360 Spider with a new three pedal 06 430 Spider. My 360 had a Tubi exhaust and it was too loud, particularly when the roof was down. What are my options on the new 430? Is the stock exhaust any good and what do you think of the stock sound? Is there a good aftermarket system that will add performance and better sound but not give me a headache when the roof is down? All you 430 owners, please give me a hand and chime in with your thoughts on this so I don't make a mistake and buy an expensive system that I don't need or one that will call for Exedrin every time I lower the roof!!! Thanks, Barry L.

Well if you think tubi is to loud then for sure capristo is way to loud for you. I think that tubi is the least loud of all aftermarket exhuast. I would stick with stock if I was you. Maybe pull off the air vacum lines. Then you get a little louder then stock at idle and up to when the vales would normally open. I think that is around 3500 rpm. That is a quick and free upgrade. If you dont like it then just plug the air lines back in.

I prefer the stock exhaust. You could have the bypass valves pulled to keep the flaps open all the time and go from there.....

    best regards,

I had a 360 spider with tubi and now a 430 spider with stock exhaust. Drive the 430 for a couple of months before you decide. I love the stock exhaust.

You would be crazy to replace the 430 exhaust. Ferrari engineers spend an inordinate amount of time tuning the exhaust to make it perfect for all driving conditions. I had tubi on my 360 but would never consider replacing my 430 exhaust.

I guess I am crazy then. But I think the stock exhaust sounds like crap. Plus you drop a nice amount of weight going to aftermarket with test pipes. With a nice little bump in HP.

I am following David's lead. I am ordering hyperflow cats and capristo exhaust that has a remote to control the valve when pulling into the garage at night. Apparently the cat and exhaust replacement shave around 40-50 pounds off the car.

    Bingo! :D

I'd follow Dave's lead any day!

The stock exhaust is engineered to sound good, etc, etc...but it's also designed to meet certain Federal guidelines....ring ring BOring!

Just start drilling holes in the exhaust manifold, start with 1/8" then goto 1/4" and tune to taste.

Go for an X-OST (http://www.x-ost.com/) and order it from Ricambi. The sound and quality-build are second-to-none. I swapped the Tubi on my 360 for an X-OST and am 10x happier.

Sure let me whip out the drill. I am sure my dealer will love that when I turn the car back in.

Loudness is an issue. At least in Europe. I would love to install Kreissieg, but I can not. Police has the right to take your car and force you to get rid of the noisy exhaust if it is above a certain level which is quite low unfortunately. The same goes for bikes as well...
How can you overcome this issue?

Dave, I think you should drive behind a 430 some time to truly get the feeling for it's sound very that in the cabin. As others mentioned, live with it for a bit and then make a decision. I almost made a similar move but now I am so pleased I left it stock.

Also, weight? and HP? are you kidding me? Who cares?!? Maybe both added together will change 0-60 from 3.90340 to 3.90339.

Trust me, you may think it will make a difference but it won't. The only difference will be the one you WANT to perceive because you just dumped $5k on an exhaust and headers....

but, then again, this is why Baskin Robbins makes 31 flavors of ice cream!

Have any of you guys tried anything with some cut outs? Flip of the switch, straight piped exhaust?

I put the Novitec Tips with valves on my 430 and I think they are the best fit/quality I have seen. See attached Pictures

Right after I bought the tips with valves Novitec came out with a new set of tips with electrically operated valves that you can control from inside the car.

I think that would be the best option to look at as it is the best of both worlds.
