I'm not sure where you live but I suggest you move it sounds awful there no wonder you hate it.

Seriously Canada is awesome place to live and this is coming from a guy who lives in Regina the highest crime rate in Canada and also a landed immigrant but now citizen from good old Italia (been here for 33 yrs). I love Italy but I am so glad that I live in Canada and in Regina if we would of stayed in Italy I would not have my life style that I do here and if I would of lived oh let's say TO (that's Toronto for all you Aussies out there) I might be a salami, hey fuget about it...

 

Most Australians will set foot in BC (ie Vancouver, Whistler). I think the province has the most amount of Australian "refugees" in Canada. (Toronto, not so many.)

BC has a very 'outdoor' lifestyle, free spirits, and natural beauty which seems to appeal to Aussies. The Eastern provinces (Quebec, Ontario) are mainly suburban and metropolitan in lifestyle.

When I was in Vancouver/Whistler last year, I couldn't walk 15 minutes without speaking with an Aussie who just moved in to the BC area.

 

i've lived all over the states, england and the middle east and have to say although i agree with KDS %100 i would still have to say Canada is by far one of the nicest countries i have ever been to. In regards to the women every country in the world has beautiful women it's just ours are getting sluttier every year!

 

+1 If I moved back to Canada, there is no question thats where I'd go. While the rest of the country is enjoying the missery of shoveling snow, you can be driving your Ferrari.

 

not sure about that ryan, i have a client with a 430 spider out there constantly complaining about the snow and rain this year and him not being able to drive his car....aside from this winter Toronto really doesn't get that much snow imo.

 

Canada is like Australia with bad weather. Nice cities, but get outside and it's the outback basically. Well, I used to live in Quebec, so it's like a little slice of Europe. If you are going to visit Canada, don't bother with anything other then Montreal. Toronto and Vancouver are just like Sydney.

 

I guess you just have to compare the number of Ferrari / Lambo sightings in January.... judging by the pics of that Supperlaggera that Salar posted, the streets look dry and the grass is green!

I hear ya though, maybe Victoria is the best place in Canada for year round F-car driving. I've heard its a bit milder than Vanc.

In regards to crime which someone mentioned.......

4 people have been murdered within a 3 block radius of my downtown high rise apartment in the last 18 months here in Calgary. No one has been murdered within a 3 block radius of my condo in Rio de Janeiro since we bought it back in 2002. Go figure.......

You will probably like Vancouver.....it is the most beautiful city in the country. Montreal is also nice....but winters there are brutally cold due to the humidity. Of all the provinces I like Quebec the best for culture, cuisine and other things associated with the good life. Wouldn't live there however......I can't speak French anymore.

As an Aussie you can get a one year work/visit visa to come here........

 

I doubt there are "refugees" from India in Australia. They would be immigrants....like you.

 

Keith - I totally believe in free speech and would never suggest you are not entitled to your (inevitably very extreme) views. We have politely agreed to disagree in the past.

FWIW though, you never miss an opportunity to spit on this fine country (I still remember your post where you actually said you "couldn't wait to burn your Canadian passport") and it is very depressing and offensive to read.

Having lived in a few countries for school and work and having travelled extensively for business and pleasure, I consider Canada paradise.

So is Switzerland, Finland, France, Italy, Australia, New Zealand and a whole bunch of other countries, depending on what your personal likes/dislikes and preferences are!

Canada and Australia have many things in common: The large immigrant base upon which our society is founded, some "aborigine" minorities that are today still struggling to be integrated into modern society, a very "Americanized" lifestyle (I couldn't believe all the U.S. corportation billboards I saw between the airport and downtown Melbourne last August), similar cost/standard of living.

The biggest differences: The climate, of course, and the fact that you guys still think that the right side of the road is the wrong side of the road! And last, but not least, that Australia is too far away from the rest of the world.... I never stop teasing my sister (Aussie in Brisbane since the 70's) about it...

 

Well, I´ve been in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Quebec... and well
my perception is WHAT A COUNTRY!!!!!... Its true, its very expensive..
Having party its expensive at dancing clubs, a beer its 5.00 or 6.00dlls, plus
a tip (each time you buy something), salary its not bad, people
its kindness and they always try to help you... I remember that the first day
y arrived to YUL i didnt speak a single word of french, and someone
show me a hotel where i could stay and he payed the 90% of the rate even
i was able to aford that rate... In my opinon Canada is the best country
ive ever been... Landscapes are awesome, cars, girls, EVERYTHING!

Having lived in several countries myself (West Germany 10 yr, France 1 yr, Belgium 1 yr, Brasil 1 yr.....for an accumulated 13 years in total).......as well as having lived across the "fruited plain" of Canada (Vancouver, Calgary, Saskatoon, Kingston, Quebec City).......and having visited around 25 other countries in my 47 year life....we'll just have to disagree again. No big deal to me.

Now, having said that, I note that you did not refute any of my points with facts, logic and reason......should I take that as an assumption of correctness, and write off your displeasure of same as to not being able to do so ?

FWIW.......there are lots of refugees in Australia.......the have a huge problem with Muslim ones right now.
