I still plan on getting my 360 when I return from Iraq. In the mean time, my wife is set to make Partner with her accounting firm and she needs to trade the mini-van for a “Partner Car.” She has it narrowed down to these three models.

I know which one I prefer (and don’t assume that just because I drive a BMW 330ci that I would automatically choose the BMW).

Your thoughts would be appreciated. She will make her purchase this weekend in Fife, WA (just outside of Seattle).

All are good, but I'd go for the low operating cost of the Lexus personally. The IS is a good option also. This should really have been posted in the Off topic Cars, motorcycles, etc...

GS350 all the way! Superior style, immense interior room and material's, reliablity and it just plain say's CLASS to me.

Personally, I've gotten BMW's for the last 15 years for my wife. It is especially good now that they include all service. We don't pay for anything. I assume you would be leasing it so there is really no out of pocket expense except gas.

We get these irrelevant threads all the time. I'd suggest moving the 'Other cars' section up to the General Forums so the scrolling-impaired understand that Lexus discussions have a proper place.

    OUCH, but true ! lol

Curious though why you consider someone else's thread/question IRRELAVANT if they are a fairly new member and made a simple mistake of posting in the wrong forum?

It's okay. I'm in the Army. I get called irrelevant all the time.

If I knew how to move the thread myself, I'd do so.

So far it looks like Lexus or BMW. I've got about 2 more days to advise my wife...

LOL! Great retort - gave me my morning chuckle :)

I dont know if you can get a real answer based on experience with them all, but having driven each model of each brand a bit the last few years (not necessarily the years/models/options you will actually be buying), I would vote for the BMW. I find Audis to be bland and boring - they dont have the same road feel of the BMW, which I find to have a much more "alive" and connected feel. The Lexus is a Toyota. Great build quality, but just very sterile and bland. I am also not a fan of the Lexus' manatee-inspired styling.

She ought to test drive them all (and then go home, have her agree with herself she will not buy until she goes home to think), then pick the one she likes best. I imagine the prices are all similar, and I believe BMW is doing the 5-year warranty with 3-year maintenance on new cars, which as stated above means only gas for 3 years. Not a bad deal at all!

    What an utterly rude question!

What business is it of anyone's how he makes his money, how he spends it, or whether he should be spending whatever he has on whatever he wants??

seats strike a good balance between firm and soft. it's roomier and more comfortable than the 5 series. it has the best storage capacity, the best brakes, and the best interior of the three. it's also the safest. i'll admit it doesn't have the road-feel of the bmw but depending on what her priorities are, i think it more than makes up for it.

I should say "mis-categorized" -- the question is probably relevant to a lot of people, just in the wrong place.

I have owned all 3 more than 2 cars each.

The Lexus is the most quiet, luxury, and the service department (if you ever have to go) is the best in service.

    Quality, and very special.

    I still love my '99 GS400 with 100,000 miles.

Anything but a Lexus...while reliable....they are so boring. I would get with the BMW with a 6 speed...

Lexus make good chick cars... they aren't as performance oriented as a BMW, and they are boring to drive, which makes them perfect for females. They can apply make-up & gab on the phone all they want, thanks to all the "driver aids" and vague steering.

Easy response for me. The Audi A6. Sit in the roomy back, check out the computer system. On Florida's flat Turnpike, in cruise at 70MPH, I am getting 34mpg, nearly 700 miles to the tank.

It is rated THE safest, it is not pretentious or an imitation of another car as is the Lexus, it is not used as a taxi in Europe as is the BMW (BigMoneyWasted). I have a good friend that has gone full circle from Audi 8L to BMW 750 to the large crock Lexus whatever it is called, and now happily back to a new V10 Audi S8. Swears he will never wander again.

First question to ask is how long will she keep it? We have had 2 Audis (S4 and Allroad), a BMW (M3) and now a Lexus (IS-250 awd). The Audi works great for where we live (in the mountains 7,400 feet up, plenty of snow), but has not had the reliability of the Lexus. The BMW I owned as well as my friend's 2001 M3 (notorious engine replacement) were fun, but the BMW stood for "Broke My Wallet". If you are only keeping it through the warranty period, then drive all 3 and pick the one the she likes the best, if you are going to own it long term (100,000 miles is at least how loing we keep ours) it is tough to beat the Lexus.

Is that one of them weak Supra motor swaps that after $50,000 of bolt-ons & labor, it still can't break 10's at the track?

    j/k

Nice to see someone mod their car...

What if he said he was a janitor or a construction worker. I am just curious. Maybe I am in the wrong line of work.

I doubt you're in line for joining the US Military fast-track to 5-star General program anytime soon.
