I think not....Victoria (just a couple of hours outside Melbourne) has some superb skiing in winter (July/August). Also: In last year's ranking of the best cities in the world to live in, Australia had 4 in the top ten (Melbourne was #1, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth). Canada had only 2: Vancouver (was #2) and Toronto. Switzerland had 2 as well (Geneva and Zurich), and the remaining 2 were Copenhagen and Vienna. Montreal was in 16th place, due mainly to its neglected infrastructure (roads that are worse than in many 3rd world countries).

That is quite true. I was at Mt Hotham (4 hour drive out of Melbourne) and the snow on the mountains (in winter) was awesome. The temp was around -3 and 0 (celsius). But there are much closer places like Mt Bulla which is like 2 hours drive like you said. Australia and Canada rule

Especially with the bloke that got shot at on Yonge St just a few days ago. How can the shooter have a legal gun at 22? However, being born, raised and living downtown Toronto I still feel safe. There are the bad areas everywhere you go in the country as well as shootings etc. There is a huge concentration of people so what do you want? You gotta be a bit street smart over all. Unlike the out of town 905'ers that can't even tackle a parking spot on a busy road.
