    Dear Comrade RED HEAD,

It is good that this has been performed but why was it not done long ago as the recall has been known about for a few years now. And you say that Stradman's car is also yet to be remedied. Have they both been in storage perhaps?

    With kind regards,

    Dear Comrade RED HEAD,

You should be supplied with an invoice showing all the work that has been performed. The bottom line of the invoice will of course be in zero's.

With regard to the harness fixings: The first rear location point is set six inches in from the door aperture. If you press down on the material you should be able to feel the locating holes. If you cannot find them and if you wish me to do so, I will photograph everything for you and this may then prove helpful in finding the location points.

    With kind regards,

    Hi Redhead,

Got the car back yesterday after recall done. No problems to report either. Took the car out last night for a late night blast as roads were dry! First good caneing! Seemed good. God the gearbox feels so much better when warmed up. Also need good prod of the brakes to get them to bite. However need more time to master the car. Just crossing my fingers for better weather!

    Dear Comrade Stradman,

The discs on an F-40 are of the 'floating' type. They are made from an aluminium/steel composite. My understanding is that they should be progressively warmed up and allowed to progressively cool down. Should they be used too harshly when cold, or conversely, not allowed to cool after hard braking (for example cooling down laps on a track day) there is the potential of minute cracks occurring. The discs are in excess of one thousand pounds each. Also, if you have the space, move the car backwards and forwards in the garage thus to allow the pads to be set against varying parts of the disc otherwise you may get a reaction between the two surfaces that will manifest as severe vibration under braking. (This will have the additional benefit of reducing the potential of 'flat spots' on the tyres) Also, you should not wash the car and then put it away wet - always wash it before taking it out as this will also be beneficial for the brakes - and the car in general.

You may also find that the brakes squeal a great deal when cold.

    With kind regards,

Thanks for the info Graham regarding the garage/pads, however I do plan to use the car rather than let it hang around in the garage for weeks on end. So hopefully I wont need to resort to the aforementioned tactics.
You cant let such a car sit in the garage and not drive it. I can hear it constantly calling me!!
Its like having a beautiful naked woman inviting you into bed . You just cant ignore her! (Damn these voices again!!)

    Dear Comrade Stradman,

I shuffle the cars backwards and forwards by three feet or so every three days and don't wish to tempt providence!

    Dear Comrade Tony,

There's so many of them that we would possibly require a special dispensation from Lord March for extra car parking spaces :) . . . . . Have you noticed that the English contingent has taken over this part of the Ferrarichat.com Forum? :)

Tony - I can't wait for the Breakfast club. Went last year and really enjoyed it. Nothing like the blast down to Goodwood. If only they would post the diary on their site. No idea when the first Italian car meet is?? Now just how many F40s can we get together on the day?....
