I paid Flashback Motorworks in Cumming a little visit today, and Richard told me they were having one of their occasional indoor car shows on Saturday, January 19th from 10 AM to 3 PM.

This show is entirely compatible with the monthly Giovanni's show later that afternoon. After all, Giovanni's doesn't begin until at least 3, and their location is a fairly short trip down GA-141 from Flashback. So I anticipate that some of us will "caravan" down from Cumming to Johns Creek.

Richard says that food will be served, though what type hasn't been decided yet. I've attended shows at Flashback before and they are always fun; besides, you can see some of the neat cars that they are working on or are selling on consignment.

(One suggestion for those coming up GA-400: because of construction, turn right off the ramp onto 141 southbound, then left onto Ronald Reagan Blvd (you'll see a sign that says "To Brannon Rd"), and continue up to Pendley Rd. Turn left there, and Flashback will be just beyond the next stop sign.)

Considering that the forecast for Saturday is cold and windy, an indoor show is a good thing! I hope Richard and company have all their radiant heaters going full tilt....

I just called Flashback, and as of now the show is still on. My own plans will depend on the weather; snow doesn't worry me, but ice and road salt are a different story!

I decided to take the Honda, since the Kumhos on the 328 are not all-weather tires (though in the end that would not have mattered). The trip from Marietta was made through sleet, rain, and light snow, in that order!

I stayed until about 12:45, and during that period, NO visiting cars arrived to be shown; all the cars in these photos were cars already in Flashback's possession. And no other FChatters seemed to be on hand aside from euro_exoticar.

This first group includes some real nice cars: the green TR6, the '54 Pontiac, the 25th-anniversary Countach and the black "rocketship" Thunderbird with tonneau cover that makes it look like a two-seater. Also the rare, unrestored MG-TA. And the only Ferrari on hand, a 308 GTSi with European front bumper.

Incidentally, I took those photos with available light (obviously) in a place with indifferent and often inadequate lighting, and was delighted with the results. I set the ISO to 800 and used the Digital Rebel XTI's programmed exposure mode. This often gave me shutter speeds of from 1/40 to as low as 1/8, and I frankly expected that those handheld shots would be unacceptably blurry. Even though I did not use the lens's image stabilization feature (which I would have if necessary), the shots all came out acceptably sharp. I guess I have a pretty steady hand, but I attribute that more to Canon's excellent design.

Jim........those did come out excellent. (and yes, I'm extremely impressed with the quality from my 40D).

Jim......send me a pm (if you dont mind) on exactly which items you changed on the camera, from taking it
off full auto. (did you just switch to "P" and then do the ISO?). I know those overhead lights are great
    for messing with the camera.

This group starts with a very affordable Maserati (how affordable? ask Flashback!) and includes a scooter with a roof and windshield wiper! Also a Kaiser Darrin (one of which just went for $160k at Barrett-Jackson), an NSU (a marque seldom seen over here), and a Karmann Ghia in.....candy apple red? The black '35 Ford was nice, and the engine shown was in the front of a Nomad that was in work.

This last group starts with a Studebaker truck! The monster in the 5th pic is a '30s-vintage Lincoln sandwiched between two newer Cadillacs. The fire truck had working lights and siren--they were demonstrated for us--and the engine in the penultimate photo is from the MG-TD.

Oh, and here's what was happening outside while we were having fun indoors. I'm glad I threw my little-used snowbrush into the Honda just before I left the house!

    Jim,

Thanks for the pics! I had wanted to get over there but the weather made snowball fights the order of the day with the kids.

The burgundy colored 911S is my track car! I have not driven her since last summer.... nice to see the tires are still holding some air!

I'm not sure I've ever seen a 911 in that color, but it works well. Cars of that vintage remind me of Steve McQueen driving through Le Mans at the beginning of his movie.....
