Long story; but their answer to consumers price shopping is to not give anything other than list price unless you are prepared to sign on the day- and they argue the point until you are all blue in the face. So it goes round and round and wastes my time and gets me very pissed off and the wife even more so.
In the end we got prices by being very aggressive and unpleasant which is no fun for anyone. We then turned the tables by refusing to reveal those prices to the competing dealers. That got them pissed off and it got more aggressive and wasted even more time. They had to give their bottom line price and the cheapest dealer won the deal. She ended up with about a 15% discount off list, no trade and no finance.

once you'd discovered the cheapest price....you werent tempted to phone the others and give them an hour to beat it??

 

Dunno; but I and most others in my industry spend many millions of dollars a year on purely business related debt and as Goober pointed out, it's paid off on the due date.
