I thought some people might be as fascinated as I am by my gearbox mounts. They were seized on, so the mechanic had to weld on a nut and use a breaker bar. Underneath was major electrolitic corrosion where the steel mount met the aluminium casing. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
LOL, we all know who that would be I vote for FF to return, mad not to have somebody who has daily hands-on knowledge with the product. Like who here knows the intake and exhaust clearance on a 308 without looking it up? Ciao M
The rubber mount has a cad-plated steel plate on each end. No corrosion on the chassis side, only on the g'box side. This was the result of the weak electrical current generated when unlike metals are in contact. When you tighten the mounts up (they screw on) you scrape a little bit of the plating/paint off which protects each surface. Ferrari should have used an anti-seize compound at the factory. But of course, they had little regard for corrosion in those days. Quite likely its worse 'cos of being a UK car, 35 years of damp conditions can't have helped.
i agree totally...and if there is something he doesn't know, he's happy to pretend he does anyway! is he a friend of yours?
i learnt a long time ago not to worry about what people said in the playground . would of thought an old guy like you would know better .
riiiiiiiiiiigggghhhhhhhhhhhtt that's not quite the point though, is it? you asserted that i'm the only one to comment...the reality is that that's not the case. whether you care or not is immaterial.
