Mods feel free to move this to the Maserati section if you think it should be there instead, but thought the audience in this section would appreciate it most.

50 years after Fangio's greatest drive Evo magazine took a Maserati 250F (Nick Mason's I think) to the Nurburgring to celebrate his achievement.

    Cool video. Thanks for sharing.
I enjoyed watching the 250F go round Donington at SeeRed last year

In that type of car it was considered safer to be thrown out rather than be trapped in what amounted to a fuel tank with an engine and hot exhaust bolted to it.

The winner car from 1957, chassis #2529, is very far on the left in this photo! It was sold one year ago for an amount of Euro 6 Million!

    Ciao!

3 years ago I had a conversation with famous photographer Bernard Cahier who was at the `Ring in 57.
He told me that he was on a specific spot of the circuit for 5 laps. On the far side of the road (to Cahier) was a small stone. Cahier took 5 photos of Fangio in each of those laps on that particular spot. After he got his film back from the lap he saw that on each photo/each lap the distance of the right front wheel of the 250F to this little stone was exactly the same!

This man from Argentinia was a miracle!
(and here comes a photo of #2529, the very car that won this legendary race! Copyright: Walter Bäumer, 2008)

Thierry, many thanks for those photo. It shows 2 of my friends:

1._ Bernard Cahier, who saw them all in those days thru his camera with fantastic photos and

2._#2529, which I had the great privelage to drive 3 times during the last 7 years.

This car is the Epitome, the pure essence of everything Maserati was ...and tries to recover today. #2529 is the most important Maserati of all time.

    Ciao!
    Walter

Sheer beauty! Not one 50ies single seater from Ferrari could match that visual appearence and look!

    Nice pics of #2523! Thanks!

This is a photo of #2529 that I took for a MOTORSPORT feature 4 years ago about this magic car with then time chief-editor Paul Fearnley behind the wheel. Location is the famous "Karussel"-Section on the Nuerburgring.
    (Please respect the copyright! Thanks!)

Thats #2509 in those days with Cameron Millar. It was the ex-Bira car. Its today in Germany. A very good, original 250F!

I have also #2507 (?) in my files... Nürburgring 1988. Compare this "war machine" with today's Formula 1 cars... What do you think?

...I think its much more beautifull! #2507 belongs today to my friend Claus Edel from Germany who is nuts about this car. 7 years ago he had to sell 3 cars to buy this one. #2507 is one of the very few 250F`s that still has its original body fitted!

    Ciao!

As I can't find a thread devoted solely to the Maserati 250F, I wondered if this might be a suitable place to post some of my photos of the iconic grand prix car. My collection goes back to the 1970s when I watched Neil Corner and Willie Green, and I am in the process of scanning all my Maserati pictures for a photo book which I am working on. So far, I'm up to 1500 - both pre- and post-war - and the process seems never-ending! I shall probably use about 350 in the book.
Here is Neil Corner's son, Nigel, with #2528, Fangio's 1957 Monaco GP-winning car, taken at Spa in 1993, as he powers up the climb from Eau Rouge.
Let me know if you would like a few more.
