I have been searching for weeks about this topic. Essentially the F360 engine is similar to the F355 despite displacement? I don't get it? The 360 revs higher and has 5v/ cylinder as does the 355. When aftermarket exhausts are thrown into the equation the difference becomes inherently more so. I understand the F430 has more displacement which will give its engine a more deeper note. Being an avid F1 fan; the F355 is the closest sound next to an F1 I have ever heard in person. Any input would save me hours on google.

Thanks in advance; and Thank you for welcoming me to your forums.

Honestly, It has been discussed and I can't remember quite now, but has something to do with the motors design..

It is the best sounding V8 on the planet, including the 360 and 430. However, the CGT with straight pipes is even more F1, and sounds even better. Bit of a price difference though...

I remember this topic coming up before and I recall someone making mention of the flat crank design in the 355 that causes the F1 sound.

all ferrari v8s have flat plane cranks.

does the 360 rev higher than the 355?? i don't think that's true..

the 360 has variable valve timing and that may be the single most significant difference in the engines....

The redline on the F355/355 is 8500 RPMs. The redline on the 360 is 8500 RPMs.

The 355 has a Y pipe in the exhaust system which makes it unique from all other V8 Ferraris. A recent thread on this subject mentioned that this is the purported reason for the 355's unique sound.

IMO why the 355 has that insane F1 sound........... Individual Throttle Bodies :D!!!!! The 360, 430 & 348 have only two TBs (one per cylinder bank :( ) vs Eight on the 355 :D :D!!!! All F1 cars have Individual Throttle Bodies......... its more expensive and temperamental but the gains are worth it..... Long Live the 355 :D!!!

The 430 will never sound like the traditional Ferraris or an F1 simply because the 430 engine was a Masarati engine with conversions to make it a Ferrari engine. The 360 has a slightly longer stroke as well.

I don't think that CS is stock. I think it has Cappy level 3 exhast, and other goodies! Boy, that CS rocks! Worthy for the 355 brotherhood to look forward to when we pass on our F355 to our children... :) :) :)

I would never buy a 430 precisely because I think the engine sound is awful. It sounds like a constant fart. I think it sounds a lot like the Folger's Coffee can Hondas and Nissans that we are always so happy (!) to see.

+1...... The standard 430 is waaay too tall and sounds worse than a boxster IMO :(. The sound is better on the '430 Scuderia' vs the standard 430, but those bulbous front fenders and truck-like rear end still have me looking the other way................ towards the low sleek f-cars like the 355 :D.
