There is a tool that you need to push the pins out of the connector. There are little tabs that pop out the sides and hold the pins inside the clip. If you don't have the tool you'll end up breaking one of the tabs trying to push it out. And you can forget about trying to slide in a small screw driver in there to hold them down. There is no room. Just get the tool. I don't have the removal tool but I don't think they should cost more than $40-$50, if that.

The new boots and the tool are available from this online source:

    http://www.eagleday.com/ampconnectors.html
Tools are at the top of the page, and scroll down for the boots. You want the 57mm ones, in both two conductor and three conductor. Rumor has it, that there are cheaper sources for the tool, perhaps from SnapOn or some electrical supplier.

THESE ARE THE COOLEST PICTURES I HAVE SEEN OF THE FERARI TIMING BELTS. Thanks for the pictures. I can really understand why they call ferrari engines race engines. Paul

    Only my suggestion.

Since you are already there doing the serivce, pony up a few bucks (if they havent done so) and have them clean the entire suspension, and engine before they put everything in. It will add $$$$ becasue its labour, but at least it will look "NEW" when you bring her home.
I have done that with my cars, and it was worth the extra....after all whether you hit 10K, or 13K its all the same at that point :D. Heres my before and after pic to show you what i mean.

I'm a driver, not a "waxer"...I had a hard enough time paying them to refinish the cam covers in that pretty red wrinkle finish. ;)

Cesar at FoS works to a very high standard, I am sure things will look and be tidy enough for me. :)

Interesting, I had never noticed the testarossa had dual rear shocks (coilovers?). Any advantage to that setup? Do other ferrari's have it?

WOW, I remember you mentioning it was going in for service this winter, but i did not realize you had planned to have it be this extensive.

Planned? Hardly, but I am not going to short change the car and have FoS take short cuts. Gotta do it right so I don't have to keep coming back for niggling things. I hate that kind of annoyance, I wanna drive. ;)

Looks good though. FWIW my audi just had it's 60k done along with clutch, flywheel, etc etc. for the exact same reason. I did not want to stop back in every month.

I agree, Dave. A Ferrari was at the heart of the “ounce of prevention…” phase if there ever was an example. Yes, it’s expensive, but it goes with the territory. I have no problem paying a great dealer or mechanic that really knows their stuff and stands behind it.

I recently ran into “mechanic” difficulty with my F40 in CA and would have given anything to undo the episode and get the car back to Mark at FoS. Whatever they charge you, with their quality of service, will be steep but worth it in my opinion. :)

The "advantage" is more of a necessity.
The four springs are there to support the weight of that large (and heavy) engine/transaxle assembly.
More importantly, the four shocks inside the springs are there to dampen the up and down motion (inertia) of that heavy engine/transaxle assembly when the car goes over a dip in the road at 150 MPH+. The more the better.

Totally agree Tim. Just got back from my first drive, and wow the car runs strong, and so smoothly through the revs. Ran it up to 8k a few times on the freeway....just about perfect! If I found one tiny issue, it is with the shifter...it rattles in third and fourth, it did this a bit in third before, but this is a bit worse. May need a slight tweak to get it right...no biggie though.

And the valve covers were beautifully refinished, I will have to take a picture and post on that! :)

I forgot to follow up after getting the car back last month. First impression is "WOW". My car always run well, but boy, does a fresh service with a careful attention to detail make all the difference. FoS even took the time to balance all the individual throttle bodies. The car is much smoother through the rev range, and most interesting, is that if you lug it, it does not stumble or hesitate one bit, not that I would do that. ;) Definitely stronger though out as well.

We had a couple glitches, one was a defective thermostat that was stuck open all the time. Fine in town, the car ran cold on the freeway. Also have a shifter rattle, and after some adjustment, FoS is going to replace the bushings to tighten things up.

I still have a previous (intermittent) low cold idle upon start up. FoS has diligently tried to recreate the problem, but for some reason the car will not act up for them. So for now, we are leaving that be, but I have to give them credit for taking many hours of time trying to diagnose that issue.

Shifter will be attended to next week, other wise I am driving and enjoying the car.
Installed some new mats and a new oem leather boot cover, and I'm smiling all the time! :)

Thanks for all the great photos Dave, congrats on the service. And agree w/ the others above, Mark @ FoS is top notch in my book.
