Been looking for a 550 for a while. Moving a couple current classic Mopars first to free up space. But of the two of these cars, what's everyones thoughts?? Note that personally I like the 550 more in black than silver, just looks meaner in my eyes. However I prefer a tan interior, and especially love these daytona seats with the black inserts. WHateve 550 I buy, one thing I have to have is the modular wheels, and I prefer the shields, but I suppose it isnt a must, since there are decals to put on if i had to ....So anyways, assuming both were sold at asking price or close to. Which one is best.

I hear good things about Sports Car Company. Any other thoughts?
    Thanks for your input!!

Love the wheels and color combo of the 3rd link but the grey floor mats are a little odd.

I know, take it easy on me!! :) I cant help it. I love the shields, but I know there aren't a lot out there with factory shields..

I'll try to set up a the link again
here is the black one! http://www.sportscarcompany.com/detail-2000-ferrari-550_maranello-2479180.html
Oh, and could someone give me the prior thread about this.. Sorry to bring this up again... I guess vehicles discussed can get a bit redundant considering the lack of choices. Kinda a double edge sword!

Both are nice obviously, but I think the interior on the Silver one is the Best interior, and the Darker Gray one is just GORGEOUS!!

Unless i am mistaken, only the silver one has the genuine ferrari modular wheels. The black one has fakes, and I would change the wheels on the grey one since i am pretty sure those are the cheapo fake modular chinese wheels sold on ebay.

Fake or not I prefer the wheels on the grey car...very nice lip on them... I like the red seats (or is that bordeaux?) in the black car, but living in TX black cars just get WAY to hot in the summer. I don't care for all that stereo gear filling up the back of the silver car... I do like that silver and light interior color scheme... Don't like the tan with the grey car so much. I bet that tan would have looked good in the black car too!

All three are gorgeous. I would adopt any of them. I am holding out for a red/tan with sport seats, carbon fiber, shields and leather shelf with records.....at the right price and mileage.

How can you tell the real modulars for the cheap fakes? Thanks, PB

Ferrari only made 1 modular-type wheels for the 550 as an option and standard on the Barchetta . It is an 18"er and it is on the first car (silver). You can identify the real ones from the fakes by the spoke design. The real one has the pronounced recess in the spokes. The black one seems to have real ones at first glance but if you look at it carefully, you'd notice hat the 'recess' is just like a 2mm 'slit' through through the spokes. The Canna deFucile one has them 'E-bay special, not sure whether Taiwan or Chinese made and good as they look, they sure as heck would've been fitted with spacers because the wheels are originally/normally made for fitments to 360/430 which has more positive offsets than the 550/575s. They're also not real 'modulars', IIRC...just 'fake' screws around the rim...

19" Modulars only came out as options on the 575M and fitted as standard on the SA. They look almost the same but the spokes are slightly different and number of screws and their setting (staggered per spoke, not parametrically) up is different too.

To the OP, I'd go for the 1st one. :)

Black! If you can't have (or don't want) a Ferrari in red or yellow then black is the next best. It's also a plus that it has those bad a** red seats. If you were to buy this (which you definately should) I would suggest getting a set of original 550 wheels, even if they arent the modular variety, so you can complete the package. My only complaint with this car is that the seats are the only part of the interior with red leather. It's to bad there isnt any red trim anywhere else. That is a very small complaint however. This is the car for you. Hell, this is the car for me!

I'd take the first one if it can't be red :) I'm been searching for a 575M... hopefully soon!

No doubt, but I still like the look of that nice wide polished rim. Now make them strong, light and CHEAP and i am ALL OVER IT! LOL!

I went to see the "3rd" car Gray/Cuio (sp?) many months ago. The car has been on ebay at least twice, I THINK the BIN was $103 way back when. It supposedly 'sold' on ebay in early December. Apparently not.

It's an incredibly nice looking car, super low miles, and my understanding was that it was a 'special ordered' color. The wheels were told to me to be the 'real' ones, but I see far more informed posters confirming my suspicion that they were not. I'd guess it has been in F1's inventory for say, 6 months. Probably time for someone to get a decent buy on it.

By the way, it's my choice of the 3.

I like dark silver colors on that car but if you like black, go for it. Keep in mind, however, that these are 7-10 year old cars with wide mileage ranges, usage, and service histories. Finding a car that is optioned exactly like you want but becomes a maintenance nightmare will bring a lot less happiness than a car that is second or third choice in color but keeps you worry free. The 19" modular wheels from the 575 look better than the 18" 550 optional wheels or the cheap knock offs. Find a good car and then buy some wheels to put on it. You will probably save some money up front and if you buy them from a dealer, you start developing a great relationship with the service and parts guys. You also have a full set of spares.

Enjoy the car, with 550's it is hard not to!
