Here is my baby going to the paint shop. I am posting these pictures of what not to do as i am INSANE!! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Color will be original Rossa Corsa . I like the boxer black lower but the car originally came solid. Anyone attempt to remove the wiring loom on a Boxer? I would like to hear any information on what to replace while i have it out. All the shrink wrap vinyl has cracked and needs to be replace - any one try this?
Damn David! You're a sick bastard. A SoCal flat black paint job would be sweet. PS: I like the new rims. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I just aquired this nice truck , always wanted one and found it in Oregon. This truck turns more heads than my Boxer. This model is a 1991 Doka 2 wheel drive all original.
Excellent, keep the pics coming. Im sure you have some of the tear-down so lets have em! As for the wiring I took mine out of the 308 during the reso and recovered the harnes with the correct tubing. Its a real PITA but you must do it. The original stuff will be hard like plastic and not take kindly to bending without shattering the the tubing. Once the hard shell connectors are off the harness you can slide on the new snug fitting stuff then re-install the hard shells. You can use mineral spirits to clean the uncovered wires bringing the colour back, same goes for the hardshell connectors. Once its back together you'll have a flexible harness that looks like new and makes the difference between a good and a great restoration. The car deserves the best. On my 308 I found the harness went in best through the windshield as I fed it through the rear floor opening to enter the engine bay then threaded the front half through the fire wall out to all the lights. The harness was the first thing to go in when the car was just a painted shell.
The last parts removed before trailered to the Paint shop. The wire loom looks like fun ahead! Jim Selevan where are you? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Update on my BBi restoration. The car is going through the surfacing - highlights on every panel on the car. Nothing is left untouched! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The white is epoxy primer and will go 2 or 3 more surfacing runs. My good friend Tom Ryan is the Painter and is well known for the Steve McQueen Lusso. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
In an era of ever-growing rim & rubber sizes, it is a refreshing change to see what you've done on your car. A matched set of 25/25R4 on a jacked suspension. Very unique!
David - just came upon this thread. Sorry I did not see it earlier. Let me know if you need help with the wiring. Been there, done that. For all others, if you look up the word "Snowball" in the dictionary, you will see a picture of Dave's Boxer project. Jim S.
Your car will be spectacular after all this. I went through a BBi windshield change, if I can offer any observations, let me know.
Well my progress has been postponed for now.My Painter Tom Ryan passed away in July and a long story short - missing parts! I will try to keep this thread going but with the economy and getting shorter on funds - may take awhile for more progress. My plan was to show the car at Concourse Italiano but mabey next year. Dave
You mentioned Tom was your good friend - so sorry for your loss. I wish you the strength to pull through these hard times and enjoy your dream car.
Good luck on finishing the project, hope you get all the parts back. some are NLA for years on these cars
Dave, I too am sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. His work looked fantastic and I am sure he will be missed by his friends, family and clients alike. Also, the best to you and all those fighting for survival in these tough times. Very best, Pcb
Here is some progress on my BBi. I started this thread in 2008 and 3 years later the Body is finaly painted and ready to come home. More to come. Image Unavailable, Please Login
