From what David Hobbs was saying, the reason why we've been seeing more suspension failures and more "clag" on the circuit are due to the Pirellis seem to have more grip than last years tire (Hoosier) and therefore subject the rear suspension to greater loads. I guess it was more prevalent on the Riley chassis' than the others - then again there were more Rileys on track IIRC +50%. Let's see what happens as the season goes on if this holds true.

I believe the Mazda is a full-on tube-frame chassis race car. Also, it doesn't use the 13B two-rotor engine found under the hood of the production car. Rather, it has a three-rotor 20B engine. While the Porsche cars are production-based, the Mazda is more of a purpose built race car.

The GT Pontiacs, BMW and Mazdas are all Riley chassis. The BMW one is stretched, however. They are all tubeframe as they are all prep2. Ashley was in winners circle with big droopy hat next to JPM's wife Connie.

I've got a lot of pics of the Fcars (clean and damaged) and will post after some sleep.

It was a good race, a safe race. It's the first big race of the year, and soon F1 begins.

Pontiac, Lexus, Porsche, Ford, Mazda, Audi, Corvette, and of FERRARI. Big names in Motorsport, and some not big.

ALMS, will give me something other to watch than NASCAR, this year.

Congratulations to the Winners, and all who raced.

    Ciao...Paolo

Were the F430s running challenge cars, or GT2 cars?

C'mon, Brian. If I were Joe Foster, I'd have him as a team mate, too! He's as good as a lot of the pay drivers out there. :)

He finished well down the order in both the Koni and the GT race. I think he did better in the Mustangs.

He's better than most, but what struck me is how he struck the wall on pit out. That's inexcusable, given his experience. You're right, though, he's a pretty good shoe for a pay driver.

Where he did really well was at Barrett-Jackson when he sold his FR500C for 200k.

Like the Porsche GrandAm GT's are likened to the European GT3's.

A friend was driving in the race although went out with engine trouble about the 1/2 way mark; a definite liking for the 24 hour sportcar races.

Correction to my earlier post...I've slept now.

The Pontiac cars are Pratt&Miller tube chassis. The Mazdas and BMW are Rileys. Unknown what the two corvettes are. Here are some Fcar shots.
