In some countries, folks cheer at the sight of an exotic supercar, while in others they assume the driver is a (expletive deleted). In which camp would you think England falls? We'd have hoped the former, but the crowd has spoken, and they're saying otherwise. When an evidently obscenely wealthy driver parked his Bugatti Veyron in a loading bay in downtown Manchester, a traffic warden wrote him a ticket while a gathering crowd stood by and cheered her on.

The same car was reported to have gotten another ticket in the posh Cheshire neighborhood of Alderley Edge, as well. The ₤60 ticket this time, which can be reduced to ₤30 if paid promptly, will probably not make or break the driver of the seven-figure hyper-exotic, but he should really be more careful about where he leaves his Veyron lying around.

Ah well.. as they said , he probably doesnt care about the fine and he will still be the one driving home ( castle ? ) in a Veyron while those cheering will not.

What I don't get about the British are that they seemed to be more in to celebrity gossip yet at the same time hate the very wealthy.

Well, he shouldn't parked illegally.... I am sure he/she rather pay the parking ticket than drive around and find a parking space though.

I would laugh in the faces of those losers, crumple up the ticket, say ciao! and drive away, but not before I revved a few times. Oh yeah, I would also mention that my car was almost two million dollars.

₤30 for the "Park Where You Want" program sounds like a good idea, and cheap too. I'd rather it needing some phlegm cleaning then door ding repairs.

Anything out of ordinary becomes gossip, when it's expensive it's a gossip mixed with hatred or something. It's a game of apperances.
He parked his car in a forbidden place, he got a fine. This is pretty normal no? I don't get what the fuss is about.

I boo meter maids who ticket anyone that is at an expired meter. But anyone that parks in a place that is never a space, loading zones, close to the corner, in front of fire hydrants, etc. should all be ticketed, towed, and booted. What makes them so much more deserving and above the rules as everyone else? Mear money? Please. the Veyron owner is lucky the cheering folks were only verbal, and did not key the car.

Americans love the those who earned their wealth through work and building of businesses that support others. We are just devided over if those folks should have to pay a full share of taxes or give them breaks because we are delusional to think we might be as wealth one day! ;)

In principle, perhaps, but relatively the British seem worse. Where Americans might be 3 or 4/10 on that scale, I'd put Brits at 7. Maybe socialist Scandinavia even higher.

He got what he deserved. However, I doubt he cares what those folks think. At the end of the day, he's the one who's made his money to buy his Veyron, not them.

Nope, Bugatti makes a great loss on every 'regular' Veyron sold. I bet even the Sultan of Brunei wouldn't be able to attain one in RHD :)
