Eric - Some of us will probably caravan out early Thursday morning. Vegas is a long way to go for only a couple days (Sunday doesn't count since we usually leave early to avoid traffic). I personally know six or seven of the guys who will probably roll with me so you may want offer a Thursday check-in as an option for part of the group.

On a separate note - a few people have asked me about staying at the Paris which was the host hotel for us in the past. The one concern people are expressing is the lack of gambling at the Platinum. I think guys like the idea of going down to the casino without having to walk outside. Just an idea. Don't want to upset your plans but some of the group may opt to stay elsewhere simply because there is no casino. This would fragment the group.

Jeffrey, thanks for the post. My thoughts on the Platinum and Fri - Mon vs. Thu - Sun were to do something a little different since Pauper's Run is your baby. I haven't signed anything with Platinum yet, and I would be happy to check into Paris or another venue with gambling. Fragmenting the group would really detract from the experience. I recall Paris was one of the only places that would handle our parking requirements. Can you PM me your sales contact at the Paris?

    Regards,
    Eric

    Eric,

Count me and Thomas (Sportscarnut) in for the Thursday morning departure. Also, I agree with Jeffrey, the Paris is a better choice. Either way, thanks for your help!

Big vote here for Paris. Having the casino and nightlife an elevator ride away is a HUGE draw. I was actually considering staying on the strip and just meeting up for drives and dinners with you guys.

I know Taylor already asked, but if anyone would be willing to let me ride shotgun and cover my room, I can provide thousands of good pics and hopefully a humorous recap as well.

The consensus is a Thu – Sun (May 15th – 18th) run works better for most people and the Paris would be preferred. I will be contacting the Paris today and see what they can offer us in terms of room rates for our group that weekend.

    Cheers,
    Eric

Eric - I went through Jason Mitchell who is with Harrahs (parent company). Don't know if he's still there or not. Glad you're taking the initiative with this. Been too busy to even think about it let alone plan it! Looks like an excellent expected turnout! :)

    TERRIBLE idea. :p

And I agree, this is getting tempting... I went on the original Rampage run and had a lot of fun.

That's all you Frank, I decided to plan a longer trip for my birthday than before. I'd cover your room if I had the exotic to drive out there, soon enough though.

Thanks Jeffrey - I talked to them earlier today and got nothing but the standard discount rate that anybody can get through their online booking. Not as good a deal as you got us before - I was quoted $199, $249 & $349 for the Thu/Fri/Sat nights. I'll try to reach Jason next and XLNLIFE is checking with his contact at the Luxor.

With the large amount of interest in this run it may not be a stretch to hit two hotels (the Platinum is literally around the corner from Paris) - non-smoking, non-gaming suites/spa/pools for those that want to kick back between runs and those that want to party it up and gamble could stay at Paris. "Team Platinum" and "Team Paris" :D

I'd rather stay at the Platinum than the Luxor, actually I'd rather stay anywhere but the Luxor. :) I like your 2 hotel idea.

Probably because a) it is at the far end of the strip; b) the rooms have become dated (at least in the main pyramid section) and c) I believe their one good nightclub (RA) has morphed into something more tame.
