Has anyone taken delivery of a 2008 model year F430 here in the USA? My car is was suppose to be here last Dec but still has not made it to FNA in NJ. I'm curious to see if 2008 models are being delivered - and if this car will in fact turn out to be a 2008 vs. 2007.

    Thanks..

What was the production month of your new car? Do you know if it was actually manufactured? Your dealer should have that information. Typically it takes about two to three months for a new car to reach your dealer after manufacturing. I believe that MY was determined by the manufacturing date than delivery date in the past.

Does Ferrari actually do model years? My dealer says no. My 430 reached stage 70 build in the middle of this month and bears the 60th anniversary plate. Are there any differences between a car completed in 07 and 08?

    Thanks
    Andrew

For US market, I believe that FNA puts stickers on each new car which designate the MY. 08 model has more standard equipments at a higher MSRP.

    Sting168 -

Hence my question about anyone recieving a 2008 F430. My dealer stated the same thing - FNA will decide the Model year. It looks like I will not get the car for 3 more weeks - just wondering what I will end up with.

    Thanks..

In any case, the car should be at your dealer 2-3 weeks after its stopover in NJ. Congratulations!

That explains the difference in what I've been told compared with what I read on the forum. Can you tell me where the stickers are so I can see if mine has been designated a model year please?

    Thanks
    Andrew

I was talking about a US window sticker (~letter size) with details of a specific new car. FNA puts this window sticker on the window of the new car. I recall that someone on FChat has posted an image of such US window sticker in one of the threads.

I am getting the first '08 430 from FOA. It is finished and is in shipment now. I expect to receive it in 2 to 3 weeks and it will be an '08. FOA was aware on ordering that their allocation for '07 was up and we had to wait a little while for the '08 allocation.

    Robert -

Thanks! I think the cars should get here about the same time. I just wondering if I am going to end up with an early '08 or the last '07..

My opinion is that is will be an '08 for sure. Normally a car delivered in Dec. is an '07 and one in Jan. is an '08. This has been my experience in the past. By the time we get out cars it will be Feb. They don't decide model year based on when that start to manufacture it but when it leaves the factory.

I would assume that if the car is already in NJ that you have a VIN number...check the eighth digit from the right on the VIN number, it should be an 8 or a 7, denoting the model year...

I would assume that Ferrari works this way, but I could be wrong...

Car is NOT in NJ yet.

My easy approach was just to see if anyone picked up a car this month and if it was an '08...

Yes on Jan delivery, but not a 2008. November build, Jan delivery => 2007 model year designation and base price. If you were given a 2007 build date, it is likely to come as a 2007 regardless of the delivery schedule.

You might be getting the 2nd 2008 F430 but I can tell you, for a fact, that it won't be the first. I certainly don't mean to be rude...just thought that you might want to know.

    Best,

    - Michael

Wow, I wonder if I have the last 2007 F430 Spider they made. My car was finished on Nov. 27th and flown over so I received it on Dec. 17th. Does that make it special if it is the last of a model year?

Often the last MY of a regular Ferrari production model was more sought after, such as the 1989 328GTS, 1995 512M, 1999 355 Fiorano, etc. Not always though.

I think you may be confusing the last of a MODEL vs. last of a MODEL year.. :)

let us know when the car gets here..

No more special than any other 07, IMO. If it was the last 430 -- or last coupe or spider -- of the entire model production (or second or third to last), it might hold some significance.

But your car is special by itself, no matter when it was produced! :)
