Anybody else doing the FCA Ortega run 2-24 ? Looks like a fun, new and different event (ends at Shaunessey's Uber F-car lair !, with bar-b-Q !) and the route is new due to Ortega Hwy construction. I'm booked, always fun!!! -Luigi
It is, what's your post got to do with the topic of the thread? You show a picture of a burning 430? Maybe it has something to do with the BBQ?
I don't know what all that stuff in the above posts is about, but. Ortega run is always fun, sometimes "very spirited", always 80 to 100+ Fcars, many vintage. Sometimes Lambos and P-cars tag along just for the drive. The people are alot of fun as FCA events go, and the food is always good. This time looks especially cool with a new route and cool F-cars to oggle at Shaunessey's vintage barnfind restoration garage. This ain't no Mikee's run (not that theres anything wrong with that
Hey, you never can be to careful and, those F430s or similar cars like it, burn like there is no tomorrow. Just wanted to make sure whoever is organizing a run you got to be extra careful . On the other hand when a run is only cruzing down to some parking lot it doesnt matter.
I actually have a true honest question about this - not making a joke of it. Do Ferraris have a fire extinguisher inside the car anywhere? I'm originally from Brazil - and growing up - I remember every car we owned had one under the driver's seat. Of course this isn't common at all here in the U.S. Does anyone know the reason behind this? Are cars just less prone to fire than they were back in the 80's when I was in Brazil?
The fire extinguisher doesn't come with the car, but you can easily have it added. Some tracks make it mandatory to run your car. Orega Run does sound like a blast, I will most likely be there.
It would be a good idea for safety and back up team. Overall generally my posts get people, um let my furry little friend provide you with an example when I post on f-chat. http://youtube.com/watch?v=hkqqMPPg2VI
I have an on board Halon extinguisher, because I track my car. It's not a factory item or required in the USA, but many owners install them for track event requirements, or just for saftey/piece of mind. Older 308 Ferraris do have a reputation for engine bay fires. (OK, Karim, I'll concede to that) .............I don't have any bizarre cat pictures installed in my car though....... -Luigi
I think you and a couple of others got nailed on PCH for that sort of spirited driving. I think my point is serious. So,you are on a public forum announcing you are going to exceed the posted speed limit on a public road? ok, fair enough with the spirited driving part but what if a mishap were to happen and 2 cars are involved in some sort of misfortune of a fiery related incident? So, you are the only one who has a fire suppression tool / Fire extinguisher to put out the fire? Wtf with the - cat pic - that is so last year's dead horse. I'm not attacking anyone, event, specific people, and or vehicle. I would like to express some sort of safety and consideration when you are driving on a public road. keep the spirited part to your self/ small group and, on the track , not on the street. No one wants to deal with the emotional strain from a spirited driving related incident on the street, especially when there are no public safety or fire and rescue for miles. feels like time takes forever brefore fire and rescue responds to help. Good luck and have a safe run .
I think you misread his paragraph. "Spirited drving" in terms of "car enthusiasm" and passion for Ferrari; when he said 80-100+, he was relating to cars, not speed. Nevertheless, safety is of upmost importance.
Which one of your safe drives should we talk about? The one where the GT3 ran off the road and burned to the ground? The one where the 430 went off road and suffered 20-30k worth of damage? The one where the CS slid into the mountain when you guys were drifting on the ice? The one where the M3 went off road and got caught in the fence and I believe was totalled? The one where you crashed into a fence and received your nickname of K-fence? Should I keep on going? I'm sorry Lou to screw up your thread, it was not my intent, but I just can't take anymore of his B.S.
Does that mean parading over the double yellow lines, below the posted speed limit, perfectly spaced to avoid rock chips on a 2way canyon rd?
Hey John, you know what, don’t blame me for others poor driving. Maybe next time I guess we can have "someone" call the cops and alert them of my Canyon run , so they can keep everyone in line and safe
