1997 Silver, 19" HRE wheels, $65K, 15K miles. The targa glass top actually looks pretty neat.

If those hacks from Spike TV's "Unique Auto" worked on this car I'd stay away. They claim to work on many of his cars...

this car has been offered many times for the last two years+

FofSF AND the current dealership have confirmed that it is modified to facilitate Shaq's size. Unless you are a BB/large dude, paying $75k for this or wanting a Targa seems too much

Did anyone else notice the custom Automatic gear box? Ahhh
It must have been cool for shaq so that he could drive it. However, this one wouldn't be for me.

Nothing custom about that transmission, it was standard on the GTA actually it is what makes it a GTA ;)

Not really feelin' it to be honest. The 456 should remain a coupe. At least, my future one would.

Oops, thank you for the correction. I didn't know that Ferrari ever regularly produced one of their cars in a fully automatic version, so I went ahead and assumed that it was something shaq had done to suit his size. GTA. . . . Now I know.

The 456's predecessors, the 400 (1976-1984) and the 412 (1985-1989) were also manufactured with factory automatic transmissions. To this date, these remain the only fully-automatic Ferraris ever, though it should be mentioned that the current F1 transmission has a fully automatic mode that allows the vehicle to drive just like an automatic would.

I think that a few 365 GT 2+2s were imported into th US with auto boxes.

Indeed, legend has it that Luigi Chinetti convinced Ferrari to send him six automatic 365 GT 2+2s. Hardly 'factory' automatics like the 456's, though.

Still made by the factory in series. I think they may qualify as a production run.

the color is nice, but the targa mod is something that needs to be judged in person. in the pictures, if it had stock wheels, it looks ok. might look pretty neat in person, though. one thing i don't like about it is the rear quarter window. seems to end too abruptly at the door edge. otherwise, it's probably a blast to drive with the top off. i really feel ferrari is missing a huge segment by not having convertible V12s. can't figure why, not like they haven't had convertible V12s before.

The 400/412 series also used American automatic transmissions-- GM, to be exact. The 456, however, used a custom made Ricardo unit.

This colour would look great on a standard one; the lack of a (portion) of the roof ruins it for me.

"Poor Shaq" is divorcing his 2nd wife and there are 6 kids among them.
The Miami Herald had an article a week or so ago where they were listing his household expenses: mind boggling !!!
By the time he is done with the divorce, there won't be much left, I am afraid, so this 456 is going to be a fire sale soon...
