    Dearest Comrades,

My wife and I both very much relish the prospect of a touring holiday in Scotland. I am thinking that the F-40 would be a most excellent conveyance for such an adventure. We have the full compliment of Schedoni fitted luggage which regretfully still remains unused due to the reservoir for the plumbed-in fire extinguishing system taking up such an inordinate degree of space within the front compartment. Consequently, we are contemplating the acquisition of a high-speed trailer. Naturally, this will be something that has a properly designed suspension system with a low centre of gravity which would of course be de rigueur.

I have examined the undercarriage of the motor car but am unable to identify a suitable location for the fitment of the tow bar. I am thinking that because of the gargantuan extent of the geography of The United States of America, that there will be others who will have wished to make extensive sojourns of the nature that I have outlined. Accordingly, there must surely be other Ferraristii within the United States of America who have towed a small trailer with their F-40. Therefore, I am hopeful that I may benefit from the research they will have already performed and thus alleviate all the to-ing and fro-ing that is otherwise bound to occur.

It may very well be the case that there is a trailer manufactuer within The United States of America that specialises in the type of trailer that I seek. It would be a likelihood that the said manufacturer would also have knowledge with regard to affixing the necessary towing paraphernalia to the motor car. Should anyone be possessed of any parergon in regard of the aforegoing, I should be most appreciative if they will kindly indulge me with whatever information or intelligence they may hold.

    With kind regards,

You actually take things with you? Anyone knows one just purchases everything anew at your destination, have the concierge place it your closets and bureaus, and viola. How quaint to take this "baggage". Must be a British tradition, much like dentition neglect and belief that the "empire" is still relevant. The Royal Navy has lost a bit of lustre since it's heyday.

Put the luggage and the car in a trailer.

Take the trailer to your destination.

Unload luggage, leave car on trailer, tour countryside in pickup truck used to tow the trailer.

Cuts down on the wear and tear on the F40, and yet, still allows you to brag toat you take your most excellent Ferrari on holiday.

    Best of both worlds.

Not likely. U.S. "Ferraristii" are considerably more anal-retentive about their cars than those in Europe. Just driving the cars over here seems to be challenging enough since it has an adverse effect on the all-important resale value.

    Dear Comrade targanero,

But, seemingly they do so regularlyy purport that their beloved behemoth's will never leave their possession, so why should the smileage be such an issue? I understand that RufMD's car covers the least smileage as it is the very archetype of Trailer Queens :)

There is a fellow who is part of the Florida forum who has a yellow Lamborghini Gallardo with a tow hitch! He tows a trailer with a motorcycle painted to match the Lambo.

I cannot even begin to fathom an F40 with a trailer hitch. Take it into U-Haul (Do they have those in europe??) I am sure the guys will bolt something on to your car in no time!

Of course you can't, and that's because you needn't look on the bottom, but the top.

That wing isn't really for downforce. :)

A few years ago I saw a 308 at Summit Point with a hitch to tow a small trailer with the guy's track tires. Had a space for a floor jack and probably a 30 gallon air tank attached. If a hitch could be rigged to the F-40's older but smaller brother, I would think you could do the same for it.

    plan your trip properly
send luggage to 1st hotel the day b4 you leave
then have luggage sent form hotel to hotel as you move about - taking a few items with you each day incase you arrive before luggage does.

We cannot assume that it covers the least mileage until the 6-month mileage summary has been disclosed for analysis. However, it is worth noting that as he tells it, he has purchased a trailer and posted images of his F40 entering this device...

    Dearest Comrade Joe Sackey,

Please, any journey covered in an F-40 is one of 'smileage' will you accordingly kindly refrain from denegrating the iconoclastic behemothic thaumaturgical F-40 in such a nefarious manner by referring to such sojourns merely as 'mileage.'

And RufMD, please, so that we may all rest easily within our respective beds come nightfall, will you establish under the aforemetioned parameters set by our technical smileage invigilator, Mr Sackey, what your smileage actually is. If the car is actually the very archetype of a 'Trailer Queen' as Mr Sackey so purports, then that is absolutely fine and you will be relieved from the aforementioned invigilation. Indeed, you may then be promoted to the exalted executive position of a smileage interrogator. Naturally, this will involve you in a full training and instructional programme under the auspices of the Chief Invigilator Mr Joe Sackey and whom shortly is to become a Doctorate in F-40 smileage invigilation.

In conclusion, I confirm that I shall be writing to 410SA in the morrow requesting that he too should make himself available for induction onto the F-40 Smileage training programme.

    I trust this clarifies matters?

    Dearest Comrade Chaos,

Thank you for adding your most excellent lateral thoughts to the equasion. However, and whilst I have put your thoughts to Mrs 512 Tea Are she has completely disregarded your most excellent ideas. The reason for this is because of her ball gowns. She is concerned that they may become crushed in transit. And then there are her hats which she feels may suffer a similar fate. Furthermore, I had not mentioned that we shall be taking our two gorgeous German Shepherd Dogs.

I do very much appreciate all the constructive comments that have been made by my fellow contributors. I do intend to take this trip and I am going to do my damnedest to find a caravan/trailer that can be attached to the F-40.

On my return journey I may also venture into Wales and should this transpire may l pay a visit upon you, please?

    With kind regards,

    Dear Comrade targanero,

Damn! I can hardly believe that I have been upstaged in such a dastardly fashion. Can this be true? Surely not? I feel utterly despondent and so frightfully depressed. However, I shall not allow myself to be perturbed for a moment longer and will relentlessly pursue my mission with the utmost tenacity and diligence. Indeed, I am to visit a trailer/caravan emporium in the morrow who have informed me that they can refer me to a fabrication shop who are able (so they say) to fit a tow bar to any vehicle of whatever nature.

    With kind regards,

    512 Tea Are
