Sport Mode, 7000RM, Pedal Down

Last night I was reading my Ferrari manual...badly translated english and all...and made a discovery which changed my life:

From Section 3.23

In Sport Mode..."Gear-shifting will be "faster" if requested with the accelerator pedal pressed all the way down and over 7000 rpm, approximately.

I took her out on an open empty highway and tried this out. Afterward, I wept openly. The noise, the acceleration the speed of the gear changes....sweet Jesus!
My relationship with her is now forever changed she went immediately from Madonna to filthy dirty prostitute. When I returned her to the garage I could barely look back at her as she has revealed herself to me in a way I never thought possible. Violent, loud, dirty and I loved every minute of it!

Take her out to a track and she will thank you in ways you could never imagine my friend!!!!!!! By the way, do you have a after market exhaust or stock???

I would suggest as it has been spelled out for me, it is always better to drive in sport mode. There is apperantly less slipeage of the clutch in sport mode, thus promoting longer life for the clutch!

I think that is pretty true of all models now.. I know this is the case for the 430 and 599... anyone have any info on any other models that do this?

I totally understand your feeling I used sport mode button first after 1 month from the purchase of car and i was absolutely amazed by the shifting over 7000 rpm... Since that i drive only with sport mode on I always prefered manual gearbox, but this just changed my mind completely - i love it and i would not change it anymore....... BTW i have tubi.

 

how would this compare to running @7000 rpm in race mode in a 430?

 

I think the 430 has a much quick shift speed in Race than the 360 has in Sport....

 

Yes but the 360 makes a higher pitched more f1-like noise, its a more extreme sonorous experience compared to the 430. 430 Gearshift is better though.

 

Not to deviate from the topic too much but 360 sounds differant to the 355 in my opinion but are the gearboxes that differant? Subjectively being in both cars it seems yes but I can find a mention of shift times.

 

The shift times are improved on the 360 but I am not sure of the times. The shifting under full throttle in sport mode is quite violent on both models! A great feeling when you do this, but you do writhe for the clutch and 'box afterwards

 

Robert is right, when I took my 2002 F1 back from the dealer the tech told me to leave the sport mode on all the time to save clutch wear.
If you are describing your stock exhaust in those words(which I love) then perhaps you should not do an after market exhaust like tubi or capristo. Don't think you can handle it
