2 totally different cars... I had a really bad experience with my E60 M5 and BMW bought it back. Depends on what you want. For a fast 4 door, I would get a E90 335i and procede it instead. Much better car and damn good gas mileage for a 400+ hp car.

I love M5s! In fact out of my all time favorite car list, the M5 rates at #3. The 360 is not on my top 10 list, but I would still get the 360 over the M5. A Ferrari is completely different fealing. I dont own an M5 or Ferrari but I have been in both. Go for the 360, you wont regret it.

3 trannies, burn a quart of oil every 500 miles. EDC failure 2x, TPMS issues...
just watch out when 335i's walk you in both the twisties and the straights...

I have 27K miles on my M5 and I have not had any problems with it after replacement of the Steering angle 18 mos ago. The 360 is a sports car and the M5 is a sedan. Try taking 4 adults in the 360 at 150 MPH. If you do not need the back seat and can afford the maintance of the 360 then get the F car. The M5 is fast and fun but the 360 will stir your soul

I owned both cars and they are totally different. My M5 is my everyday car and I love it. Its fast and spacious but it eats gas every 3 days with that v10. My 360 CS is a dream come true and a sunday driver. Both cars are great but totally different types.

I drive a 2007 X5, M6 CAB, and a F430 Spider. I agree with everyones comments above. There is no comparison between these cars. The answer is simple. If this is a daily driver, buy the M5, you won't regred it. I love both my BMW's, especially the M6. I still get excited everytime I'm going to drive her. If this is a toy, buy the 360. Nothing can be more fun or exhilerating to drive than an F car.

The other advantage of an F car is you don't even have to drive it to get a hard on. They're just that beautiful!!

+++1 I never had a problem in 2.5 years of ownership with my M5 and I had an early "05. Eats gas!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best daily driver out there imho, also has a 4yr/50k service and warranty!!!!!! You don't pay a dime except for tires! Where else you gonna get that! The seats are some of the best, plus HUD, stereo, bluetooth that works!!!!!

But there is NOTHING like a Ferrari!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love my 360!!!!!!!!

I had a 360 (430 now) and have a E60 M5 with a 6-speed manual tranny. Both great cars but very different in application. I can carry 4 people and their golf bags in the M5, attracts less attention, cheaper maint and insurance costs, smooth in power delivery although I feel it needs better brakes and suspension for that engineand chasis.
The 360, IMHO, is the most beautiful modern F-car or any car. The sound track is intoxicating, you feel something that no M car can duplicate, for example, the steering feel in the M5 is lacking the feedback you get in a Ferrari. You are asking a tricky question, 2 different cars and applicaions.
My advise is if you are a true car person, you need to own a Ferrari at least once in your lifetime.
With that said, I'm selling my M5 if you're interested, just PM me.

    Best - Frank

well Im not trying to shock you all by asking that question but the reason i ask is according to this video the m5 whips the 360s ass

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ld-EsRPUEEs

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKN-s-aqJbM

I know the ferrari 360 has way better curb apeal by far i have never driven one is why i ask and when i do decide on my purchase i want to be happy that ive made a good one !

Im 27 single live in my own home (owned) ... probably would put about 6k mi a year on the ferrari 10k if i had the m5 , Im young i like to have fun speed a little show off some burnouts ect ect. so thats why ive started this

If you are serious about buying one of these 2 cars, drive both. Send a PM to one of the local fchat guys. Someone will let you get in.
The 360 would be a clear winner for me.

There are no shortage of cars that will walk a 360 Six-Ways-On-Sunday. Two of my mates have 600+HP 996TT that I could never hope to keep up with in a race. A Z06 will walk a 360, as will a WRX with a NOS hit. But would you really rather be driving one of those?? I had opportunity to pick up a stunning nearly new 997TT for a steal just before I bought my Spider. That thing was silly fast...but it was not an F. There is no wrong choice here you just have to decide what matters most to you. Drive them both, "pimp" them both and then decide.

Having said all of the above, for real world application the 360 is plenty fast. However, if "fast" is the major decider for you I would say go in another direction

    Thanks!!

I could have saved almost 30k by going with the 2007 997tt and it would have had the balance of a bumper to bumper warranty and it was sick sick sick fast....but here i am in my 2001 spider waiting for my f1 pump to fail!!!! :) and lovin' every minute of it!

It really depends on your plans for the car.

The first video you posted was a highway run...so if I was buying a car for some highway action/fun...I would buy neither of these cars.

The 2nd video was some drag racing action...again I would not buy either of these cars for that reason.

If you want a nice, fun, fast, spacious DD get the M5.

If you want a car just to drive around in and look good in get the 360

If you want a drag/highway beast...save yourself some money and get a Viper or a Supra.

A ferrari is not about 0-60 times. All sub 5 second cars are basically the same unless you are a drag racer. It is about the looks and the sound in a ferrari. An m5 looks pretty much like the rest of the 5 series but a ferrari is definitely no BMW.

    totally different league...
My BMW 650i is about luxury and some performance (m5 more performance of course), but still is a everyday driving car...
360 or 430 is about something else, just impossible describe until you have driven one. Apart from the looks, after I stepped on the throttle and the beast came alive I just could not believe my eyes, ears and all other senses. I was just shaking from fear, admire, joy and long after I got out of her, I was still completetely blown away....F car is pure race pedigree with an unexplainable image or feeling...

You cannot really ask this question or try to compare them in theory. If you have the opportunity, test drive a 360 then you will have no more doubts or questions!!!! (Of course if you can manage with only two seats :) )

Wish you good luck with your choice. Best.
