Who out there likes the new version of eBay motors? I just can't get used to it and find myself switching back to the old version every time. It seems like it takes too many clicks to narrow down your search, plus I've been conditioned to hate pop-up windows.

I agree. The new version has several bugs in it that need to be fixed.

For example, if you use the Saved Searches feature in the My eBay settings, the default sort order of your searches are in creation date order. If you change it to alphabetic order, it does not remember it next time.

Another problem with Saved Searches is that the new version cannot do "less than" or "greater than" searches for model years. You have to specifiy every year. So, if you're searching for Ferraris whose year is < 1989, the new Saved Search comes up with it set to only one year, "year = 1989".

It is isn't clear to me why they re-wrote everything to make this new version.
It kind of reminds me of when your local grocery store re-arranges all the shelves to make everything seem like new but now you can't find what you're looking for.

Agreed that the new version sucks. I think they're trying to make it more user friendly for either (a.) automobile-ignorant folks or for (b.) the ebay cowboys who read something about a certain car on a message board then think they know everything there is to know about said car so they buy one & wash and wax it and plunk it up there on ebay with a ludicrous asking price.

fleaBay sucks as it is these days....to many jockeys out there..so people pay good money for crap cars.

Both suck, but the new one is AWFUL.

I still use the old one to navigate. I'm glad they provided that option.

Being in the Web design business, I see this happen all the time. Some marketing manager wants to boost her accomplishments for her review & comes up with hairbrain "improvements". Blah...

There new version is awful. The new version of regular ebay is just as equally bad. Took me a good 15 minutes to find out where to pay my sellers account bill.

Where it says "welcome to the new ebay motors", look to the right.

I'm glad this thread was started, I've been wondering if I was the only one who hated it. I take it I'm not the only one who e-mailed to complain?

It's not just e-bay motors. The new version is everywhere and it sucks everywhere. Went back to the old.

i kind of like the new version, it's easier to view a list of cars in your area, not just 1 make. also, it's a little more user friendly imo.

I too find the old one more comforting to navigate. I guess eBay must've needed something to justify paying all their web developers....

"john, we're gonna have to let you go..."
"why? what did i do wrong?"
"well, nothing. you've done such a good job that the customers don't want any changes. we have no reason to keep employing you."
    "well, ****."

See, General Motors was genius for their whole planned obsolescence ordeal.

Ok - I hadn't poked around ebay motors for a while... but YUCK!

I still think it is absolutely stupid for there to BE an "ebay motors" - What was wrong with simply having ebay? Search for Ferrari, sort by highest price, and bingo - there's the cars & none of the crap like Ferrari towels or shoes or whatnot.

Of course, I miss clicking on their site map & selecting the "big ticket items" just to see what kind of crazy stuff was up for grabs.

Oh well - change is a fact of life.
