Oh, I thought all taxes, LCT, stamp duty, dealer delivery fee etc was added on top of the sticker price.. I'm guessing the 2% registration fee is the same in all states? What exactly is a "fancy polish"? Sorry for these questions as I haven't ever owned a car before.
You are right. I wondered where this thread was going with people talking about tax ON TOP of the retail price.
It is 2% Stamp Duty in Qld, I think 3% in NSW and uncalcuable in Vic. I'll let Moretti explain a "fancy Polish". Up Giddy
ok i feel like an eediot then i've been going on this assumption for ages and quoting prices blah blah like a knob because i've been mis-reading the ads where it talks about charges not included in price and then lists those charges. but no-one's corrected me before anyhoo, i just did the math on a gallardo and now it makes sense... $430k list - LCT @ $69,072.41 = $360,927.59 - GST @ $32,811.60 = $328,115.99 but then i havent bought anything newer than 1984, and that includes clothes...
We get bent over the table big time on rego down here in Mexico. Why do you think you see so many new F-cars on QLD plates here? Clue: it ain't 'cause we all have holiday shacks in QLD !
well in WA the stamp duty/transfer fee is something like 6%at the top bracket, we get totally shafted here.
Ah, thanks everyone, it makes sense now. I was wondering why some of the exotics I've seen on the road in Melbourne have had Qld plates - eg. GT2 and F430 Why can't Vic rego be calculated? Surely they would have some form of uniform system..
Perhaps I should have said "getting insurance for an amount commensurate with the risk involved". Initial comp insurance on the F50 was quoted at $15k for 1000km's from memory. Hilarious, so I insured it for transport and storage only. Then the insurers got nervous and I now have full comp for not much more than storage was.
Would the insurance be a lot more for a road-registered car of that value, say for arguments sake a LHD vs RHD Zonda?
Doesn't make any difference. It is the number of km's and type of usage basically. A quote for unlimited use on a Zonda would probably buy you a 318 BMW I would imagine. Obviously the individuals insurance record also plays a major part too. FWIW, I would probably "self insure" rather than pay that sort of premium. Not an option if you were to finance the car of course.
so long as you are not down as a name!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ouch that oil rig going down hurt, now i have to sell my life
geez i laughed when i looked back over this. scud talking about buying the zonda...going for the test drive...blah blah... i remember him NOT buying the zonda was just after him not buying the enzo and just before him not quite pulling the trigger on the F40. but by golly, it made him very popular with his fans!
Lol!! Havent you got ANYTHING better to do than dig up this old crap PP!! Wait, errrrrrrrrrrrr hang on....................you DONT!!
doesnt take much to entertain a bored old bloke does it? love all the collective references...."us" "we" "everyone" seems Aircon is the self proclaimed Fchat spokesman
No disputing the reputation and quality of the McLaren but when it comes down to personal taste I just love the look of the Zonda F and the level of detail Pagani puts into the cars, and its probably going to be one the last purely manual transmission super cars
