Gentlemen, it`s been emotionall... Saw IA3 0244 for the first time back in 1980, 7 years old, and was totally blown away. And for a couple of years it resided just a few km from where i lived. Talking to the previous owners son two years ago, he told me the car was still in sweden, fully restored, but hardly ever used. Anyone here who`s got more info?
There were 8 Bizzas at one time in Sweden. The only Swedish one I have personally seen was the orange two liter coupe, it was at the Nurburgring Oldtimer GP in 1984.
If you look att the chassinumberlist that i saw a link to somewhere earlier, it still should be. Or at least seven if the barnfind that started it all has gone... er... somewhere else.
That's the car! I also saw a 2 liter car at Koni Lutziger's in Berg Dietikon near Zurich in about 1982, it was burgundy. I met him at Geneva classics for the first time since and told him about my visit to his chalet...a quarter of a century ago!
well.. there are now 3 5300GTs stradas and 2 europas remaining here in sweden since I exported 0248 this summer to claus Iso a3c #B 0211 was exported in 2004 to italy Corsa # 0242 is currently being race prepared strada # 0244 is in pristine condidition in stockholm strada # 0248 exported 2007 to Belgium america # 0271 exported 2005 I think to the US strada # 0307 still in south sweden being stored europa #BE 207 in south sweden stored europa corsa #BE 213 in stockholm In the early eighties I think Hans thulin ( of bugatti Royale infamy)brought one in but quickly went out Also the Manta was here owned by Ulf Larsson a while.. Us now.. That closes the book on the swewdish Bizzis However a rumour has been heard that one has been reimported but that needs to be confirmed..
Well I have all the info.. Prevously gold.. now red in perfect condition owned by a collector in sweden... owner I think wants to be anonymous
It was a question of survival, both for the car and her three sons... Having a car, capabel of almost 300 km/h was too much of a temptation, as i understand it. And the car was starting to look a bit tired at the time. So the change was probably for the better. Original swedish owner is also still alive and resides in Kalmar, cant remeber seeing anything special in his garage when i passed a couple of weeks ago, though.
One of these is owned by a wealthy Swede who has done the Mille Miglia with his 250GT TDF a few times. A friend of mine went to see his car which was red, in very nice condition. Hans Thulin: one day quite a few years ago I was walking through central Stockholm (near NK), just sightseeing, shopping when suddenly there in the lobby of a building stood the Bugatti Royale! It was such a visual shock to suddenly see it so unexpectedly!
Nice color, like the Bizza seen in the Eiger sanction but there are at least two pages of the article missing. Tack sa mycket!
