Jim, what is the difference between the Historic Targa Florio and the MM in driving/people?

And Warren, will you join the MM in 2008/2009? I try to do it next year as I want to know the car and this year I will join the TA in France (with another car). Your 212 is a very nice car, and the belts are just as I want them too.

    ciao

    Hi

The Giro d' Sicilia/Historic Targa Florio is a 1000 KMS/9000 turn event over 5 days with very simpatico people. It is not hard corps driving but the 9 accompanying Police Motor Cycles do enable you to have as much fun as you want. There are several hill climbs, a track day at Siragusa, many cappuccino's and a real danger of eating yourself to death.

Here are some threads about it:

Will not be in the Mille Miglia this year. There is a new web site "http://www.1000miglia.eu/inglese/home.html" and new organizers in 2008.

As soon as the car is in the Netherlands, I will contact them to discuss the options. But also Forza (Oss) will be involved. And Warren, do you think bacause of the new organistion the MM will be changed positive or negative? One of the reasons I let it go this year is to see if things work out well.

If I get accepted, my brother and I will be participating in the MM this year for the first time, with 0217el. It would be great to meet fellow Fchatters somewhere between Rome and Brescia!

    Cheers,

    Dear Julio,

you should know by now dont you? Where you able to fill in the never ending forms? As I want to join next year, I need to know all the questions but as you first have to fill in the first form to receive the rest I did not get to the end.....Is there a complete list of forms??

    Ciao

    Hi Oscar,

The list of accepted cars is published on January 31st. I have no idea till then, you can imagine how I am counting the days...

If you don't get the first form right you can't get access to the others. A lot of documents and pictures then have to be uploaded, including a FIVA or FIA originality certificate, and a €5000 refundable deposit has to be paid by December 31st. It's just a question of patience, and starting 2 or 3 months in advance.

The only thing you probably don't have is the certificate, and that can take a while to get, depending on the country. The rest is relatively easy.

I hope you make it! I plan to be a regular if all goes well...

    Cheers,

    Julio

Well, let's cross fingers. I really hope you will be able to do so. As I was not able to fill in the forms (I just wanted to have the info) I was spammed by the new MM organisation to fill in the forms and send them in. So they are pretty eager (automatic emails). Keep us posted if you get any further and I would be pleased if you inform me what data was hard to get. Was it the FIA passport?
    Ciao

The FIA passport was the only one that was hard to get, and it took longer than expected (1 month). It all depends on who you know, who gives out the certificates in your country/state, and how far that person is from your car.

    Cheers,

    Julio

    Julio,
Hope you get in. It seemed to me you had to apply at least once before being accepted in the past. Whether that is still the case who knows. I am sure the new organizers will put the utmost effort into the event. After all it is Italian, an a real tribute to there motoring heritage. All the best.

Just read this for my brother and myself on 0217el:

"La tua vettura, il cui modello non ha partecipato alla Mille Miglia di velocità, è stata eccezionalmente accettata alla Mille Miglia."

One source I have indicates that a 212 Inter did participate in 1954, but I think it is doubtful, and the organizers evidently think that a 212 Inter never participated. I guess I was lucky to get in, or they figured it was close enough to a 212 export, of which plenty took part.

Any other Fchatters got the same good news???

    Cheers,

    Julio

At least 0147E and 0237EU took part in Mille Miglia.

kare, if you could tell me your source it would be very hepful. Do you know the years?

"Frecce Rosse - Le Ferrari alle Mille Miglia" only gives 0174E as a 212 Inter in 1954, but that's not an Inter serial number (it's from a 340 America I think).

    Cheers,

    Julio

Siro Sbraci entered 0147E in MM52 using #559 and retired. There is photographic evidence showing the registeration, so identitiy is confirmed. Casarotto/Conconcelli seem to have entered in 1954 with the same car using #554, but I don't have a photo.

Martinelli/Conconi are believed to have raced 0237EU in 1957 with #519. Send me a PM with your email address, and I will send you some pics.

    Best wishes, Kare

Thank you Kare, this is very useful!

0147E shows up in my book as a 195 Inter in 1952. This is obviously a mistake, 0147E is a 212 Inter, as you say.

Casarotto/Conconelli are shown to have participated with 212 Inter 0174E in 1954, obviously the book misprinted the number, it should be 0147E.

As for Martinelli/Conconi in 1957, my book describes their car as a 225 S, and gives no serial number.

    PM is on the way.

    Cheers,

    Julio

Their car was on Swiss reg, so it isn't possible to check the registeration documents. The pics I have are not too good, but it looks like 0237EU and this 212 Inter really looks a lot like 225 Sport, which might explain the confusion. It raced in catogory for Sport/2000+, which makes no difference for a 212 and 225.

    Best wishes, Kare

    Thank you Oscar,

I don't know what the total number of entries was, I will post when I find out.

For sure I will write something up for Fchat, it's the least I can do! Is your Export one of the many that participated? That would absolutely guarantee your entry.

I can't wait to sit on that ramp in Brescia, but I don't really believe it yet...

    Cheers,

    Julio
