orange G coming up the st georges rd hill in toorak. i think he was a bit jealous about my GT4 stealing the limelight
awesome spotting tonight. Rolls Royce PHANTOM between the city and the valley around 9ish. ****ing massive. Think it had standard QLD plates? It may have been the one i saw earlier this week, but regardless 2 times in one week excites me. Thats at least three that live in brisbane! (based on assumption on the ones i have seen) Orange R8 turning onto corro about 9. First spotting, nice colour. had the 'VODKA' arnage bentley following me before pulling in beside universal strip club in the city about 9.30? Probably owns that too. spotted the 'BI' bentley continental GT opposite Ralph Lauren about 8, then later at harbour side.
Every time I see one I can't imagine how they drive it... but then I think back to my public transport auditing days and realise these guys must have become wealthy driving buses.
Have you see it in action? I have and it went nowhere. I think its slower then a stocker. haha. Errr at this stage its 50/50 I'll know closer to the date.
I still cant imagine how people justify the ridiculous prices RR asks for here in oz compared to what they are sold for to our american cousins!
Sigh......stoopid gumminmint well the customs duty on vehicles is going down to 5% in 2010, which might make the situation a tad more bearable. Also Mistubishis Adelaide plant has kicked the bucket, now if only the same happens at Fishermans bend and Geelong then the government wouldnt have a protectionist excuse to hide behind. heres hoping! but even so im sure the exotic importers would still gouge and keep the current pricing........
Sadly I'm thinking abroad more and more lately - everytime I think of pulling the trigger on something mildly sporty or old/exotic I look overseas and see what I could afford if I were over there.... hmm.
errr They drive LHD cars over there.......... Best bet would be to live in UK or Japan for a year, though UK prices arn't as cheap as the US and you would have to put up with living with the dreary weather and people over there. also regardless of which country you decide to do a personal import from you still have to pay LCT, Customs duty AND GST!
ALSO forgot to mention The rules stipulate, quote 'only one vehicle built after 1 January 1989 per person per 12 months.' And the second hand market value of personally imported cars is lower than original aussie complianced ones. The Gumminment competently(surprisingly) made sure it screwed exotic car enthusiasts over....
Does Goober have big stickers on his back windshield and plates from interstate/overseas on his R32 Golf?
err, LHD, no sh*t, i lived there! but I meant for 300K you could have one purchased there, landed, complied, GST taces etc, would still bring it to less than 700. would sell for 900 easy im sure! Ive been through the process myself, i was just lucky my car was old school! They do make it hell though hey...
