Thanks for bringing that car up! I had never heard of it, but I've found some more info here: http://oldcarandtruckpictures.com/Argentina/Argentinarenault.html Never too old to learn.
How about a Renault-AMC (neé Kaiser) Torino ? See: http://jalopnik.com/cars/retro/rambler-rogue-no-renault-torino-239271.php You got there first, Toggie .... Go for it !!
Okay, but I'm not very good at this game. Here is a picture that shows just a small part of a car - I have no idea if this is going to be dead easy or too hard. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Andrew, it looks like a 63 Pontiac and I think the logo says Catalina. Judging from the bumper colour, I'll bet it's a lightweight drag special... ??? Toggie's is tough, tough, tough...yeeeeesh..
You couldn't resist, could you Paul ?? It's nice (almost) having a car named after you ....not too many people remember Borgwards..
Wow! You are good. I tried to frame the most normal looking section of that car. Your turn. Image Unavailable, Please Login
It must be the "Henry J" Kaiser car. Here is an early factory promo picture of one with a similar front end. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Since I found a pic of the same license plate on the Allstate car, I'll go ahead and post the next picture. I remember when these cars were new: Image Unavailable, Please Login
I remember driving (a beat-up 10-year old one) up PCH in the early 80's. That's if I've remembered correctly .... 1972 Ford LTD (maybe I'm slightly out on the model year).
But somehow the grille in your photo doesn't look quite right. Maybe I got the model and year wrong. . How about a 1971 Ford Galaxie ?
Good guesses. You're partially correct both times. It is a 1971 Ford LTD. Here is a pic or two of nice shiny black LTD convertible. Your turn. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Damn .... and I nearly went back and posted that too ! I just couldn't find a clear enough image of a '71 LTD grille to be certain.
Even I knew I had to be close when I found an Allstate pic on the web with the same license plate number on it. Gee, why would 1971 be so special? ... Perhaps something to do with your user profile? I wish I shared your vintage. I'm a bit older, I was 13 for most of 1971. And, just out of curiosity, where is Charlottetown? Is that the one on Prince Edward Island, Canada?
