I went and bought some aluminum oxide to sandblast some parts and I got to try POR-15 for the first time... mostly on parts that are not all that visible... all I can say is that this stuff is great!!! So much so that I've decided to blast more parts and coat them with this stuff... unfortunately the black is too glossy... but it's a great alternative to expen$ive powdercoating... and just as durable.

It was more of a test to see how to use this product... they're not kidding when they say not to get any on your skin and that it'll take days to wear off if you do!!

In any case, I've got their caliper painting kit and will be tackling that task next week...

Awesome work Dan, I love the fact that whilst the sub frame was out being powder coated you found time to install a whole wooden floor, paint the walls and install a bar just so the frame didn't have to rest on that plain gray paint. What an Artisan ;)

    All joking aside, nice going.

HAHA... did that too... in '03!

Actually it's in there because I am simply running out of room for everything... my basement looks like a car exploded down there... there are parts everywhere... so now I'm taking over another room in the house.

    :)

Looks like it's coming along - it will be amazing when it's done. Do you plan on driving it afterwards?

Interesting use of POR 15 :). Remember, its UV sensitive, suposedly discolors in sunlight and turns milky. Another option is to sandblast parts and clear coat - it looks great...

Holy crap... you're absolutely right... thanks for the info... they recommend top coating it to prevent discoloration from sunlight...

Thanks again... some of these parts are going to be in direct sunlight!!

If you going to clearcoat the parts you painted with POR 15 then you can get a
clearcoat in flat to get the finish you were looking for.
