I dont actually wish for people to lose their jobs but unfortunately the system has been twisted in their favour and as with any protected industry it is making inefficient and unwanted products for the marketplace( eg, falcon sales have dropped off and the corolla is now no1 seller in Oz). There is no other painless way for the industry and government to adjust to a free marketplace. I am not an importer or related anyway with that industry, my main beef is that as a consumer i dont like the fact i am denied cars that are safer and better built, which the rest of the world is able to access for a greatly lower sum than what they ask for here. In the US 5-series bmw sell for commodore money here, now tell me which would you pick if you had that choice...
Err, I included costs of conversions in my estimate! I should have elaborated... But i agree wholey, I would take any 3 series over a commodore anyday really...
Driving a 4200 Maserati coupe at the moment. I had one on order before I cancelled it on favour of the CSL years ago so I have driven a few back then. My memory of them is a bit different to reality it seems. The driving position is quite odd, seat seems elevated and pedals quite off set and close together. Hard to get a comfy set up as a result. The engine sounds fabulous as expected, the throttle is very sensitive even in normal mode. F1 shift seems slower than BMW SMG unit and I reckon the SMG gear shift lever/paddle combo is more user friendly. Cockpit is cramped and back seat room is for pre teens and tiny adults. Material quality in the cockpit is high, though switches feel Italian fragile. Interesting if somewhat quirky car; but boy does it sound good. None of that 430 Vacuum cleaner engineered sound, just plain old fashioned Italian V8, gorgeous
Has anyone checked out the Pagani Zonda at the Holden dealership in Artarmon (NSW)? Drop dead gorgeous car... only one in Oz apparently...! Cheers,
Sadly, politicians work on the (accurate) logic that ignorant people decide the outcome of elections. They could care less about consumers. Better to have overtaxed and overpriced cars than newspaper images of redundant car workers. Good riddance to the Magna/380. That's another hundred million dollars that can be spent on roads, schools and hospitals instead of being p**sed against the wall in Adelaide the next time an election's approaching.
Is the "one make" enthusiast is a person of limited imagination or limited intelligence? I'm not sure. How can you love Ferraris and not like other cars too?
we're not saing we don't like others just that our number one preference is Ferrari , it's probably why we visit a Ferrari website my favourite car is the Alfa Stradale 33, it's just the prettiest car you will ever see, if I could swap the QV for it I would in a flash
Turquoise DB9 AMLDB9 in Bentleigh today, and black/yellow calipers 612. Also pearl Elise S2 and gunmetal GrandTurismo. Exotics around the Bentleigh area are becoming quite common.
thats what i thaught, till i lokoed at the R8 at the dealer. its not actually the same chassis, despite having read it on the internet several times (is probably based in the ame floorpan though), as its a full Alu COnstruction which differs to the way the Lambo one is made (well thats what the dealer told me, so i guess its a matter of who is more reliable, random internet speculation, or a dealer, which is the lesser of 2 evils?), the engine is not the Lambo V10, but yes the rumor is there that they will offer it eventually, however TTYTT im actually quite interested to see whether the diesel version takes off that would be interesting. but it did not feel $250k special when i sat in it thats for sure.
Its not the chassis of the current Gallardo, but it is the chassis of the next one. You don't think a beancounter-driven company like VW/AUDI would spend all that money on the R8 chassis for a few thousand cars? These are the people who made platform sharing an art form. Things will get uglier for Lambo when the Murcie replacement comes along. It will be engineered by VW/AUDI (to amortise the development cost of the Veyron) and will most likely have a non-turbo Veyron engine. The Lambo "factory" will be like the Bentley works, a place where final assembly and trimming is done to give the appearance of marque heritage, whilst the real engineering happens in the former East Germany or Bratislavia.
I can't believe you actually said that. Lambo's more reliable than Ferraris? Please show some quantitative evidence. As for getting girls, lets face it, the only thing you're likely to get in any sort of exotic car, is spat on.
Many years ago, on a Ferrari run, my then GF asked if she could have a ride in Trev B's Countach. As she was getting in Trev told her she better get her pants off now because there isn't enough room once she's in the car! Sheesh! Daytona owners
