Without looking at a picture of it, first thought would be Gumpert Apollo

Edit: Damn, too slow, and it was even wrong :(

that looks like a cross between a Jenson Interceptor and one of the early Mazda Rotary engined cars from the 60s...

On jjay911's photo there is no car - it's transmission selector .

C'mon people, that car was on the cover of Road & Track.

And Isobel, I'm sorry I mis-spelled your name earlier.

Jeff, you didn't spell my name wrong and I hope you're feeling better.

I thought Amenasce had it with the Osi guess. I thought it was an Isuzu 117 Ghia or some weird Guigiaro Barracuda thing...

I'm sure it was on the cover of R/T but I 've never seen that issue. You know what it is so I'd say it's your turn. My guess is Bertone Mustang ?

Nice work, another round to the lady. Jeff, you graciously DQ'ed yourself. Hope you're feeling better. Vignale the other day was evil. I knew it was Abarth, and Vignale, but couldn't (still can't) find my reference. Has the tandem car in the same few pages. Grrrr.
I'll work on a special one for you, me, Paul, and Isobel for next round I hit.

Looks like a Ford Taunus/Consul Convertible prototype, I thought so from rear shot. Winshield header looks like Mustang. Too frumpy for Ghia.

I agree with your comments. It was pitched to Ford as a 'sporty compact' in 1962 when this company believed there would be an upsurge in that slice of the market. Ford rejected as did AMC. The company that produced it was involved heavily in automobile body stamping (for Chrysler,Morris,BMW,Citroen and Dodge among many others) and the manufacture of stainless steel streamlined passenger cars for railroads and subway cars. Now they are part of ThyssenKrupp.
