Tickets for the first night /street race in Singapore go on sale today: 14th February 2008! The official website is: www.singaporegp.sg/tickets.html Rennmaus
More than 50 people formed a long queue at the SISTIC outlet in Forum The Shopping Mall for the F1 tickets. System glitches marred ticket sales and caused island-wide frustration. -- PHOTO: MY/NEO XIAOBIN WHEN tickets for the world's inaugural Formula One night race went on sale on Thursday morning, fans were expecting a well-oiled ticketing machinery at work. Instead, what happened when the starting flag came down was complete chaos. A server error caused the entire ticketing system to foul up. Fans tried for hours to get through the ticketing website and failed. Even as late as 5pm, fans called up The Straits Times to say they were having problems getting into the F1 website to buy tickets. Those who tried calling also could not get through. Some who tried both and failed rushed down in the hope they would have better luck buying over the counter. They were wrong. MTI 'CONCERNED' In response to press queries on the F1 ticketing system, MTI Spokesperson said: 'We are aware of the slowness with the F1 ticketing system on the first day of sales and are concerned. SGP as the race promoter is handling the ticket sales. We understand that SGP is working with OmniTicket Network to rectify the problem.' Tickets sales on the ground too had run into problems. At the one of SingPost ticket stations, the system was so slow that only three fans were able to purchase tickets in the three hours from opening. Mark Benterman was whooping with joy when he finally got into the Singapore GP website after one and a half hours of trying. The British Airways pilot, who lives in Singapore, reserved two Pit Grandstand tickets, each costing $1,388, but his session was timed-out as he was filling in his particulars on the online form. When Benterman managed to log on to the website again an hour later, he realised, to his horror, that he had lost his seats. After four hours of trying, he gave up trying to buy the tickets online. 'It was absolutely frustrating and a disgrace,' he slammed. 'I like Singapore for its efficiency but this incident is unacceptable. I am trying to spend money but I can't, due to a computer problem. If Singapore GP cannot sell it online, then they shouldn't have offered the tickets on the Internet.' Similarly, Mr Lim Yong Soon had unsuccessfully tried to get the tickets online. The businessman also tried buying them at the SingPost outlet at Bukit Timah but was told that the website had crashed. After five hours of trying, Lim gave up. He said: 'It's very frustrating to keep trying for hours without results.'

So atypical.....what a joke...probably didnt put enough servers locally to meet the demand. Its almost like a hacker's denial of service (DNS) attack where large number of requests go to the server..and the server decides to block everything muahahaha...only this time its legit
So, has anyone here actually managed to buy any tickets yet?? I got a right strop on and amost lobbed the laptop out the window. Guess its down to whoring myself about for some hospitality tickets instead ...... now, who are the main sponsors agan .........
i heard that everything's in chaos. thats one of the reason i opted not to go this year. if all goes well, i'll drop by next yr i think
Thought I'd check in and see if more people are going to the GP in September? Bummer about the Paddock tix never even going on sale b/c the teams bought them all for Corporate Sponsors.
no idea what you are talking about. VIP Paddock tix is ~$6500 /pp, anyone can buy it. i have it, i might go to the race.
Really? That's what I was told. I went to the Turkish race last year, did Paddock, and the ticket provider was reputable. Same Co. apparently didn't have access to Singapore Paddock back in Feb. Where did you get yours for Sept?
my ppl in shanghai got mine for me. my friends in new york, got theirs online. one person went thru a link off the official f1 site, another person simply purchased off expedia.com, you go to activities tab, and select that race weekend as time frame, put in Singapore as city, it will list the F1 race as one of the activies, and you can buy all type of tix including vip paddock at ~$6k each. if by middle of summer you still plan to go but without tix, let me know, i might not go and i will put up my tix for sale.
