Maury, I had the injectors on my ex 348 cleaned and flow tested for around 200.00 at a place called EFI out in Elmwood. If you can't find them in the book ask Lindsey he is the one who sent me there.

Dave told me that the brass injectors don't hold up well and that the steel injectors should be kept. You would have to ask him why. He refinished my injectors and his before and after pictures are remarkable. I can't figure a way to show you them as the pictures are bitmap and FChat can't use that style of pict.

Open the picture with Photoshop, or Office picture viewer, then save it as a jpeg file. Then you can upload them :)

Finished the intake manifolds and have the fuel injectors back in. Since I had already purchased the brass ones, I'll go ahead with these and have the steel ones cleaned.

The bodywork is all done and we're just waiting for a rise in the humidity and temperature to lay the color down.

Just got back from the body shop today. Now that the humidity has improved they're making some progress. All the parts stripped off the car are down except for the final clear on the headlight assemblies and the final polishing stage for the clear. The body will get its primer, color then clear through the end of this week and next. It's all pretty dusty now! ;)

I also spoke with Matt at ReOriginals yesterday and he thinks that they should be shipping me all the interior next week. I'll be sure to get pics of the finished pieces up as soon as I get them home.

I also have almost all of the other parts restored that were taken off of the car. Should put the color on the plenum this afternoon. :)

Boy am I! Who would have thought that just replacing the carpets would turn into this? ;) Well, I should have, I've done this one every old car I've bought. :)

    Neitehr can I! ;)

When I spoke with Matt at ReOriginals the other day he told me he met a couple of people at Cavalino that were watching this thread to see his work and may send him their stuff as well. So, who was it?! ;)

And I'm guessing the labor charge is going to be steeeeep when you start hearing things like "my guy is really putting a lot of time into your car and looks great" "It's a lot more complicated of an interior than you might think" LOL! ;)

Great work! Please, please cover those injectors with the plastic cap they come with. You don't want ANY dirt in there!
I'm also about to paint my 328 and I'm currently dissasembling it. This thread is a great reference for me.

Last photos I saw of your car looked great. Why the new paint? Sun fading?

The main reason is a few rust spots developing ... but the paint reflects the 19 years of regular use and polishing ! In a few edges you can the the primer ...
I've decided to go for a full respray and take care of the rust before it turns into something serious. I want another 19 years without problems and a perfect looking Ferrari, as it deserves ! :)

I'm not restoring the interior, but I'm taking the oportunity to clean and lubricate the window mechanism and replace the rubber around the windows, and some other minor details
Here's a couple of pictures from last week:

Wow.... big job. Well, be glad you weren't in the Azores with it or it probably would have been long gone (rusted away)! Of course you don't need me to tell you that :)

Are you doing all the work yourself or just disassembly?

Just for info, where was the initial hint of rust? It could be useful to keep the spot under close scrutiny...

:) But it spent almost 18 years in the UK and did 74.000 Km ...

Disassembly and assembly only. Paint and metal work will be carried out by a competent shop
I will also rebuild the A/C (not working). That will include new hoses and conversion to R134
I do need it in the summer, sunny Portugal !

I had my Lancia Montecarlo in Sardinia, 3 years in the UK and 5 years on Menorca (16x50 km). Did not do it any good :-(

Rui, with you new paint, are you going single stage or a base coat/clear coat?

By recommendation of the shop, single stage. They'll use the "old" Glassurit paint and not water based ... just don't tell anyone :)

Almost finished up with the plenum refinishing.

I ended up having to take it back to the bare metal three times.

The first time I tried using Vaseline on the raised portions of the plenum. This seemed to work until it became an absolute greasy mess trying to polish off the Vaseline areas.

Second time tried taping and scraping the fins off, but the training edge of the sandpaper caught the red paint sections and damaged it.

Third time was truly the charm. I masked the body, shot the primer one day, the color coat the next, then allowed two days to dry. Then used a razor to scrape off the fins, then 400 grit sandpaper in very small sections to sand it out. Still have a bit of polishing of the raised sections to do, but I think it came out nice.
