As Jeremy and I are finding out the real challenge is finding a venue that will work with us on the parking. Vegas Guy's wife put me in contact with Tara at NY/NY and I will have an answer on the parking there early next week: I have not stayed at New York - New York since they have completed their renovations; if anybody has any post-renovation opinions on the hotel they would like to share that would be welcome. I was at the Rio a few months ago and overall found it to be more than satisfactory. The Voodoo Lounge on the 51st floor of the Rio had plenty of scenery and great views of the strip, and their hotel entrance is conducive to staging a group of cars to set out on a drive with quick access to the 15 freeway. My block of rooms at the Platinum Hotel is spoken for, but I may have a suite available as we have one occupant who is tentative at this time. Okay guys - is there a preference for the Rio or NY/NY?
I know a few of us have already booked rooms in the Paris. At the end of the day we know our parking is not going to be a hassle. If you have me down for the Platinum Hotel, you can release my room. Thanks so much for putting in so much time and effort.
Just a heads-up on the Rio... its a nice place and all, but locals who keep thier ear to ground all know that the Rio is notorious for having FAR more cars stolen from thier parking lots than any other hotel in town. The Rio doesn't seem to care, or do anything to prevent it, so car theft is running rampant over there... high-end vehicles with out-of-state plates are mainly targeted. If you do stay there, DO NOT leave your car in ANY of the Rio's self-parking lots!!
No worries - didn't have you down for the Platinum Paris is an excellent choice, but I believe they are sold out for the Saturday now. The nice thing is the two hotels are around the block from each other so grouping up for the drives, dinners, etc. won't be a problem. Since some people have already made their own arrangements, who else needs a room at this point? Do Jeremy and I need to pursue anything further with Rio and/or NY-NY or is everyone else good with their own arrangements? Steve, thanks for posting this - their insistence at having additional security makes more sense now.
Eric - I think you should pursue some alternatives since a majority of the group will rely on you to find acceptable accomodations. If you leave it up to the group you will lose attendance. I don't think there are more than five or six people who have booked at the Paris. The alternative is Bally's which is connected to the Paris. The actual garage where we usually park is located mid way between the two hotels. I would give Ballys a call and see what they can do.
will there be a deadline for room reservations? I'm pretty sure that i'll be able to use the vacation house near the top of the strip, but in the event that I can't make it happen, it'd be nice to have a "plan B".
Eric, Likewise, if you have me down for the Platinum you can release my spot. FYI - the Paris hotel still has rooms available for the three nights.....I verified this with hotel in the last 5 minutes. I completely agree with Jeffrey.....if you don't secure a hotel where the group can stay.....and it comes down to every man for himself you'll probably loose many of your participants. Thanks for all your help and good luck with the event
I was under the impression more than a few had already booked on their own at Paris; since that isn't the case I will follow back up with them on the quote they gave me last week. Just to be clear I only reserved rooms at Platinum for anyone that specifically asked me for one.
You guys have me all confused (not hard to do). The list that is at 19 rooms right now, where is that for? I can always get a poker rate at the Bellagio for a couple of rooms if need be. Has anyone looked into staying there. They would probably let us park our cars in the enclosed area where you pick your car up from the valet. There is always high end cars there.
That list is for guys that wanted an alternative to Platinum. Jeremy and I made a few calls to other venues for that list. If 5 or 6 of those guys have already booked at Paris that leaves about 13 that need a room. Last I heard (Wednesday) Paris was sold out one night over our weekend. Sportscarnut called this morning and they have availability for that night again. Since 5 or 6 guys already booked at Paris I will dig up the quote they gave me, give Paris a call and confirm if they have enough rooms for us.
I booked a room at Paris a few days ago for Thurs-Sun for the run. I concur with Jeffrey as I stayed at Bally's last weekend. If Paris happens to be sold out, Bally's is a good alternative since they both share the same parking structure and an interior walkway connects the two properties along with the parking structure.
I just booked my room online at https://www.harrahs.com/AvailabilityCalendar.do?propCode=PLV&showHotDeal=Y&source=OGY0000013001
I would call the Paris and/or Ballys (should be handled by the Harrahs Group Marketing Department) and see how many rooms you can secure. Block at least 10 rooms and you will fill them. There is more than twice that many people interested in going. Those of us who have booked there have already secured rooms - either under regular or player rates.
Sam, any pull at Paris? Lets talk about some shows. As for everyone else, how many cars going over from San Diego? Nice to get a head count. Are we going to meet at Cavallo MotorSports? Let me know what you are thinking so we can coordinate.
No pull at Paris, just Bellagio and that is a different owner. Jeff, you want me to get us two rooms at Bellagio. They will be cheaper then what I saw online at Paris. I think we can save at least $200 per room for the weekend.
Hi Guys, I just booked my room at Monte Carlo. $129, $179, $299 it was around 609.00 for the weekend.
