http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=137448847&postcount=119 posted by me today in the houston spotters thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1685&page=109
Where was the pic taken? Isn't it being shipped to the emissions place in NW Houston? Was this your first time seeing the F1 in person?
i didn't take the photo, but a friend did. it was taken on 45 n and the hardy toll road headed south. and yes, i have seen the f1 in person before, i had the same reaction most have when seeing one in person for the first time - it's that small? for those who haven't seen one, think the size of a porsche boxster
from the profile view, it looks like a ferrari 360 meets a corvette rear. Again, from looking at the side view. $2.5 million! wow
As someone said, it's just going to an emissions place. The owner doesn't live there. Stunning car, though.
I was talking with a car buddy this morning while having coffee, that was aware of the F1 in town (a friend of his tracks F1 ownership), and he knows who the new owner is. I believe he said the owner lives out on Memorial someplace.
FOR SURE! I actually think there is another F1 in Houston and there used to be one in Dallas too. What SPECTACULAR CARS! $2.5MM these day huh??? What a GREAT investment! Could have bought this one (since it is a VERY LOW build number) for like $650k...import it (still have to EPA it but you don't have to DOT them anymore, if they are under show/display law) now you have under $800k and you could enjoy it 2k miles per year and still sell the thing 15 years later and MAKE $1.5MM+!! AMAZING!!
Now that would top off all meets EVER! Man, imagine if that thing rolled up to Pub Fiction or Starbucks for our next Coffee Cruise. I don't think any of us would be able to speak.
There were pics on one of the BMW forums of it at Momentum BMW trying to get it's state inspection. It failed.
Ok, here we go it was on houstonimports.com http://www.houston-imports.com/forums/showthread.php?t=446212 Just look at the pictures and get out, don't spend time reading the thread, I could feel my i.q. droping buy da secon.d
Thanks. I guess if he was trying to get a state inspection, that would mean that LamboLover is wrong and it is staying in Texas. You were right, that thread gave me a headache after reading the first page. Note:Went to page two and a kid on there is saying his friends friends dad has a wrecked Enzo who's fixing it up. lol.
If it does not live in TX why would it be traveling far on an open trailer? That does not make any sense to me. Why send it to TX for federalization? There are RI all over the country. I know WETL (Wallace Environmental Testing Labs) does good work (they did for me on my EURO '92 GTS) and that they did the very first 959 to enter the country fully EPA and DOTed, but I am pretty sure they have never touched a McF1 before. I know a place far up in the NE has done a couple of them. If you were spending $2.5MM and needed to get your car federalized I would think sending it to a company that has actually DONE one or more would be a no brainer and that putting it in and enclosed trailer to get it there would not be an issue either... Just trying to make sense of a strange situation and apply a little logic to what we are looking at.
The up close pictures were great but the tread was brutal. You can depict the youthful comments, wild ideas, build numbers, units in US, and rebuilding an Enzo. It was a bad I know more that you at the school yard (elementary). The car came from Symbolic Motors in California. They have some great pictures on this link: http://www.symbolicmotors.com/car-538/1994-mclaren-f1.html Great write up. http://www.symbolicmotors.com/inventory/catalog/1994McLarenF1/McLaren.pdf
See that's what I'm thinking too. It came from Cali, why would it come to Texas and then go back to Cali (or Nevada)....really doesn't make any sense.
There are now 2 in Houston, 1 in Dallas, and 1 in Austin. Those who read profiles will know how I know.
I only knew of one in Midland but I think it was sold recently, ask AnotherDunneDeal for details on the car.
