OK, so when I power on my father-in laws computer everything works fine. Then if you close the monitor and it goes to sleep..... when it powers back up everything is enlarged. Webpages, icons, etc. Even the icons in the system tray look distorted. I checked the display settings and all that does is shrink and stretch things. Any ideas?

sounds like the video driver is confused - and may of been flipped back to a default Microsoft Driver.

    1) reboot would probably clear it up
    2) if it happens again, update drivers for the Monitor and video card

i switched from windows and have not looked back. I always had to reboot my windows and it was annoying. now I have heard that windows on Mac works great and you dont have as many issues. Thats the great thing is I can run both...

You also might want to take a look at the power settings when you close the monitor. Never hurts to scan for spyware either.

It is great, I have XP on my iMac for those times I need windows, never had a single problem with it, unlike the 2 HPs I have had.

I agree AVG Free is one of the best Anti Virus programs that I've ever had. Norton IMO is one of the worst, I've seen it slow down PCs to the point where they couldn't function.

It must be the porn sites you guys are going to, because I have Windows 2000 and XP on ALL of my machines, and I simply have never had the problems everyone else seems to have. And I build all my own machines, so I have installed all sorts of hardware, software and drivers. No problems.

i doubt. this pc has been giviving me all sorts of problems since 2004. it's a Dell, the hardwares don't seem to last long. over the years, i changed the motherboard, ram, upgraded to 2 hard disks, etc.

    i think it's because of my d/loads.

thats because Norton and McAfee have plenty or too many thing in their anti virus, and some things that we don't even use.
