i have a ferrari 1996 f355 f1 and i brought my car to the dealer to get my 25k mill tune up done and when i go to get the car the bill was 11grand other sources tell me that it is generally only aroung 5grand the guy at the dealer claimed he lost the bill and said it was 17thousand but knocked it down to 11 now is this possible he did give me some f1 tires it was said they took the whole thing apart and replaced the belts but who knows just confirmming that this is accurate...

Post the bill, let's see what you bought and who you bought it from.

It's possible to spend over $10K but usually it's more like $7K.

Thats the problem as i explained the bently dealership where i took my car in Missouri charged me 11k after he said he lost the bill and made another one up for me and said it was supposed to be 17k but he got it to 11 because he lost it and gave me tires everything seemed like it added up i was just double checking.

You gave them 11 grand without an itemized bill? For what?

Good luck with that if you decide to sell soon. That WILL NOT pass the smell test.

They rang one up afterwards but it was not the accurate 100% correct one because they lost it and then had to ring it up again its a long story but is 11k for f1 tires and the engine pulled apart an accurate price?

If this is a FNA dealer, it is typical for a complete 30k service to run between $6500 and $8500 depending on the cars "needs". The $2k differential can be for things like water pump (over $1k for new, no kidding), plug wires, new CV boots, etc. I have seen bills go as high as $15k or so, if you need stuff like manifolds, cats, clutch, flywheel, etc. So it is entirely possible to have a legit bill that can run north of $17k. These are used cars, and many have a lot of deferred maintenance at this point.

For what work? You need to be specific.

As far as documented maintenance history, if you don't have the paper then it never happened.

Wow a dealership knocked off $6K because they lost your original bill??? I guess they don't have computers at the Bentley Dealership yet.

Truth be told i dont know what was up his sleve but he said he lost it and everything seemed to add up so we went from there it was probablly just part of a business scheme but to be completly honest my knowledge of ferraris in limited i dont know all of the engine work and needs like you guys that is part of the reason i joined this forum to become more educated about the car. Thanks though

Sounds fishy to me. You never just drop your car off and give anyone carte blanche. You agree on the price for the known dynamics of the service and then require a call for any extras.

I just wanna know what f1 tires are! Did they put Formula1 slicks on your car???
A high-end car dealer that doesn't understand the importance of a highly detailed and completely itemized maintenance invoice?
Did they provide the old parts so you could have some proof of the stuff they "claim" they replaced???
I dunno, discounts are always nice, but this sounds like a BS story from this dealer to me... I dont buy it, i'd sooner believe that
you got free food at a Chinese restaurant!

I think i'll try this with my next customer...
    actual bill $300.
tell customer actual bill was $1000, but I lost it.
    scribble out a half-assed bill for $700.
Customer thinks he got a smokin deal!

I have a feeling you told this to the dealer too...

For those of us unsteeped in the technical history of this fine marque... when did the F1 transmission debut?

    I don't know. But then, I have a 348 that only LOOKS something like a 355!

    I thought late MY '98's had F1's? Isn't 285Ferrari's F1 a '98? Mine is '99, Nov. 98 build date.

Sorry about my post from last night it was late and i must of just been typing i correct myself it is a 1995 Spider 355 not f1... ANd as far as the matinenace goes yes i took it to the bently dealer it is the closest place to take my car to get worked on around my area there are not many alternatives. I received a bill although he claimed that they "lost" the bill which I thought was pretty skethcy considering it had to of been done on computer and recorded although i received a detailed bill so really i had no argument but who knows what they had up there sleve. Thanks for your help though!

Screw the computers and bills, get all your old parts. If they tossed them out, they probably didn't do the work. Who throws away Ferrari parts? I save all old parts for customers, every old nut, gasket, everything.
