Damaged at the airport. I was told someone dropped something on the roof and it is back at the factory getting repaired. It won't be here for a while yet as a result.

    What is the build date?
How long till it gets back here?
Not a good look having a build date months and months before the compliance date.
Shouldn't they be giving you another car?

It's only a scratch on the roof, sh*t happens. Build date is January 2008. I have a loaner Maserati and some alternative choices in the meantime. One is close to the spec I ordered anyway.

Stuff like this happens every day, most of the time you don't even know it has happened.

Very true, why didn't they get it fixed here? Surely not normal to send it back if only a scratch?

There is no great conspiracy here. The factory apparently kept the locals in the dark until they had argued about who was going to pay for it over there- instead of fixing and THEN arguing. The car sat around for weeks while this happened. It is a PITA for everyone concerned from start to finish. More important things than a car to worry about to be honest.

They have delivered about 7 cars in Melbourne, maybe more by now.

The locals only found out about it way after it had all happened I was told. Everyone here has done as much as could reasonably be expected.

its just a pity that this has happend, you've waited so long for it, the last thing you need is something like this. but still, when i saw it on the street, its an amazing machine!!!! worth every penny and time wait i suppose.

Jumping up and down like an idiot never helps anyone, and often does the reverse. I work with the public everyday, I know how it feels.
At the end of the day, if it wasn't PERFECT I wouldn't consider it and I doubt anybody is as fussy as me.

The way I look at it, it's another 5 weeks or some other spec sooner. If I got some spec that wasn't "right" I would spend the next 4 YEARS regretting I didn't wait 5 weeks............

As I said, sh*t happens. Suck it up and move on.

Ain't that the truth. Mind you, you probably feel like punishing someone anyway. :)

I had a tree fall on a brand new BMW I had and the roof got repaired - and it was a damn sight more than a scratch - and afterwards, and for the next three years I owned the car, I could not pick the repair.
