Thanks Gary, A TR is a lot of car for yellow but I "think" I could live with it. It doesn't even need to be perfect as long as it's not "clapped out". Robert told me about the sale of his, glad to hear it's going to a good home. I seem to recall somebody else taking delivery of a black TR in Hawaii recently, in the last few months or so, not sure which Island. It came all the way from the east coast. Maybe those guys can get together and terrorize..............
Steve, Thanks for the ring to Brandon. If I get lucky maybe you and I can meet at Cannon Beach this year. I forgot to mention in my ad that I am not subject to emissions testing so I can take delivery of TR's WITHOUT CATALYTIC CONVERTERS. Here's your chance guys!! DJ
Okay, SOMEBODY out has to have a TR they are thinking about selling. I have heard over and over how "off-color" TR's are a "hard-sell". So far all I've heard from are people with black and red with the exception of one nice silver/red It appears the problem isn't that they don't sell, the owners of off-color TR's just aren't selling.
I've been looking for a yellow one for a year or more. Maybe we can do a group buy ;-)? If you happen across a yellow one for 50ishK and you're not interested, please let me know. Thanks. Nguyen
Two years ago, when I was not looking, I found a couple yellow TR's, one in Nevada/yellow/tan, another in Texas. The Nevada car was tired and the Texas car overpriced. I think I recall a yellow/black back east. Yellow is very rare.
Dana: Did you see these? http://www.classyauto.com/v/Ferrari+Testarossa/53582 http://www.classyauto.com/v/Ferrari+Testarossa/43867 http://www.classyauto.com/v/Ferrari+Testarossa/54055 Mike '02 Maserati GT Coupe
YUP! I've seen them all. I check 21 websites daily, have been since last September. The problem isn't in finding them, it's finding what I want, in the color I want for the price I want to stay under. Like I said, NO BLACK CARS, NO black interiors and I'm trying to stay away from red but will go for one if it's above average. Add those three factors together and you lose 70% of the market out there. The last two links you posted are asking 80k for these cars and is the reason why both of them have been on the market for the last year. From what I have seen, the market just won't support that kind of asking price unless those cars are exceptional which I don't believe they are. If I had 80k plus tax to spend I would have picked up a decent Ghibli by now. Thanks for looking though,

I haven't run CARFAX on these but just from the ads, http://www.dupontregistry.com/autos/Search/DRauSearchDetails.aspx?itemid=456732 East Coast-Red, NO http://www.dupontregistry.com/autos/Search/DRauSearchDetails.aspx?itemid=411991 San Diego- Red again- Maybe (I ran a bunch of CARFAX on TR's in San Diego and LA last fall. LOTS of transplants from Florida and the Northeast. NO thanks.) http://exotic.collectorcartrader.com/details.php?adId=40540080 FLORIDA-80K!!-That's got to be the nicest TR in the country to command a price like that. It's been on the market for 8 months so maybe it's not. http://exotic.collectorcartrader.com/details.php?adId=90232358 California-No price- Why? Whats the problem?
I would love to fly around and look at all of these cars personally but I don't have the time. That is most of the reason why I want to stick to cars on this coast. The problem isn't in finding them, it's finding what I want, in the condition I want, in the color I want, for the price I want to stay under. Isn't that true of everybody?
Didn't think I could swing it at the time or I would have. A fine example. Times change, and the market has REALLY changed. I have learned over the last few months that the good cars don't keep showing up for sale, over and over. I take down the VIN numbers and keep watching and a good many show up again. There are reasons for that, A) The car is a victim of deferred maintenance B) The car is misrepresented C) The car is over priced D) It shows a "lease history" on CARFAX (BEAT) E) Salvage title F) God forbid, all of the above. What appears to be a lot of "good" deals out there is misleading.
Here's a private party ad for a 1986 TR on craigslist in the SF/Bay Area. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/car/581376280.html Anyone know who is selling the F40 on the Seattle craigslist???? http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/car/581728467.html
Bobileff also looks like they have a very nice 1990: http://www.bobileff.com/90_trstokes_main.htm Mike
Saw that one, very nice. Again, once you add PPI, possibly plane tickets, taxes , shipping and license I'm well over 80k. I don't have 80k!
Haven't seen that one. Too bad about the black interior. I want to stay away from black interior. I like the single mirror cars but don't like the metric rims. Those would have to go. I think I saw a thread on Fchat saying that Coker TRX 415mm tires are up to 535.00 each! Ouch!!
