    Good call!

The Japs copy?I never heard that before............

*THEY* have all copied the under seat exhaust system pioneered by Ducati with the 916.

"Ducati, a REAL bike in a sea of s/hit" GOLD!

    Ciao

You sure you're not stuck with a mid-90's thing with cars & bikes? ;-)

What about new 848/1098 with back-to-916 styling but 10 years have *really* moved the game on since then..

I test rode the 848 last week and you wouldn't be disappointed with the modern generation..

(caveat: although maybe the digital dash is ultra flexible... I still prefer the at-a-glance of a needle and dial for keeping tabs on things when you only want to spare 0.5 sec for a glance, or even corner of your eye as instruments so far down and away from line of sight)

.........and faster than the Desmodici for half the money. Also the first road bike with race traction control........................................ and Ducati are back to making stunningly beautiful motorcycles. I wish Ferrari would get back to making beautiful cars.

    Haha!! ;);)

I have loved the 916 since its inception. :):)
As I have with the 348/Testarossa/Miami Vice era. :D:D

I have no doubt that the new 848/1098 is awesome, but I do not really want to spend $25K+ on a road bike. :):)

I have also NEVER ridden one, so I would never be able to ride any bike to its full potential. The only reason I really want a Ducati 916 is because I have always loved it, there is not a Ducati anywhere in Mount Isa and also because everyone reckons they are the Ferrari of road bikes. :p:p

I will see what happens, not too stressed about getting one or not. My good friend is a mad road bike enthusiast. He is telling me to get a Hyabusa. Bigger bike for the bigger bloke ect...ect....Ducati is more for the leaner sort of guy with its race bred design/heritage. :):)

Well if not riding duke to full potential unlikely to do Hyabusa.. its a 1340cc straight line monster.. you'd have mostly(?) straight line roads outside town? I guess great area to let it have it's head but OTT for all other times.. I know which one I'd rather for smiles each time you look at let alone ride..

Never seen any larger/big guys ride dukes though! Maybe there's something in that?

I did look a bit at them, but it's more than I wanted to spend at this time.

you need to give my youngest brother a ring, he's finding really nice superbikes for his mates all the time.

Last time I was in Sydney he was riding an Aprilia 1000 , gorgeous bike, damned heavy, was selling it for $6-7 k

Was a nice sound and he said it went fairly well .. .almost wanted to buy one but I've used up all my luck :(

I had the 916, Not so hard to find, but, like you which I had of kept it.

Actually one bike I really want that is getting quite rare is a 59 Indian Chief.

I love the old bikes. Same as the cars. They seem to have a lot more character.

    Everthing today is mass produced.

Seems a big revival and interest in bike "classics".. saw more than a few ads for Honda 750 and Kwaka 900 Z1 from 70's fetching some eye opening prices if in restored nick.

Even my humble Ducati 450 Desmo from that era (my first road legal bike.. and barely even that lol) I see is fetching $10,000 these days..

I remembered growing up in the late 80's when the Katana came out. Now that was a weapon. Silver bike.

Also Kawasaki came out with the 1300cc bike. Having said that, again probably well built but no character. I did enjoy my rgv 250.
