Considering the popularity of small open-wheel cars like the Ariel Atom and Caparo T1, is there a possibility that Ferrari will ever offer a similar car that resonates their heritage from F1 racing?

I'm not sure if a smaller engine (4 or 6 cylinder) would provide better fuel economy, especially at higher revs, but this could also be an opportunity for Ferrari to address the inevitable pressures of environmental restrictions to come in the next decade.

When guys stop equating displacement and horse power -- not actual PERFORMANCE -- with cock length, then maybe. Maybe.

I would still consider the F40 a "full-body" car rather than an open-wheel vehicle that would more closely resemble their F1 line.

The 333sp isnt a road car though. Ferrari makes road cars and race cars now hybrids of both of these. I think thats the way it will stay.

Piero Lardi came up w the F50 which he said was as close to F1 tech as F could build, then there is the Enzo & the FXX

I doubt F would build anything like the Atom and the Caparo may be too extreme, I'm sure the Enzo and even the FXX is more comfortable than either

Something like the original little 2.0L Ferrari's would be neat. Small 220HP V12, fendered wheels small body, could be neat.

Why would they in the first place?.

I wouldn't want to see a Lotus Elise kind of Ferrari.

I'd assume Ferrari's engine building ability has advanced enough to reach that goal, when you figure the original 166 spyders had about 150HP. Finding an extra seventy horsepower and having it modern road legal I'm sure can be done. That or Ferrari could bring back their line of four cylinders, only Porsche with the 968, and Honda with the S2000 have built similar output street legal normaly aspirated fours to my knowledge.

How about the Milli Chilli prototype ?

Its probably the future of F, very low weight, very high tech w a small V8 twin turbo, maybe a hybrid

I dont see F building anything like a Lotus 7 anytime soon

imo, ferrari will lead industry in light weight technology.

doubt they will make an ariel atom type car though b/c style is too important to the brand.

They can not do such a thing and expect to sell them in the US of A. They are too high volume of a producer to get the wavers that Ariel Atom and Caparo T1 can get.

The Caparo T1 will be getting no waivers.

how? they havnt made a leading light weight car since maybe the F40

the enzo weighesd what, 3200lbs? corvettes weigh that much not to mention the 2700lbs N/A saleen S7 or the 2900lbs TT S7

The F430 weighs a bit more, 599 is around 4000lbs. Not exactly light weight IMHO

They arnt incredibly heavy like lambos, but still not "light"

So Ariel can only sell a certain amount of cars before that style of automobile becomes more heavily regulated?
