    Hi all,
I recently purchased a one-owner original 1991 348tb. It is Rosso Corsa 300/12 with tan interior. The bottom edge of the front spoiler (the portion containing the assymetrical opening) .... the bottom portion along the sides (containing the lowest side opening) and the bottom edge of the rear valence (under the license plate area) are all semi-flat black.
Can anyone tell me why pretty much in every picture of a red 348 that i have seen these areas have been body-coloured? In all the original sales literature i have seen these areas are semi-flat black.
Was it an option to have the lower areas body-coloured? Perhaps only 1991 models were painted black?
    Thanks!
    Don

Don, not to be a party popper, but try using the search feature for your answer - 6 threads about the same car in a few hours is a little much....Or ask a different question within the same thread----you have won the award for the most threads started in an 8 hour period...

But to answer you, yes the factory finish on the 348 for the first four years of production was painted black over a body color base. You can wet sand the black off to expose the body color underneath or just have that portion repainted. I did ther repaint a few years ago as the red finish was not great when I bought the car. As you rating here is currently 'rookie', you get a pass on using the search feature and starting lots of threads. Welcome!

    Don,

More than 500 posts ago, I was EXACTLY in your shoes....just live and learn...some of these guys have an AMAZING amount of information. I'm doing things on my car now that I would never have imagined six months ago... just remember, search is your friend... by the way, I have asked MANY very basic, and very likely stupid questions...but guys like No Doubt, Ernie, Fat Billy Bob, Steve in Vegas, Jetfixr, and many others (too many to list) have been very patient, and very helpful...but I'm sure it is somewhat annoying when you see the same question asked yesterday or last week on the board again...i can't give enough credit to these guys, who know the anwers, and keep answering again, and again for noobies.... (like me)...

    Again, thanks guys...
