What's the cheapest way of going to Westchester, Ny. I know there are buses that pick you up from China Town DC, and go to NY, NY ( http://www.2000coach.com/dcnewyorkrt.html ). Apparently from NY to Westchester, there is an hour drive. Is there a Subway/Metro inner city bus that could take me there? Also for reference this is where the bus will drop us off: 88 E. Broadway New York, NY 10002

Are you talking about Westchester County? If so, that depends what city you're after. To the 'middle' of Wchstr Co. it's only about 30mi but from downtown NYC it takes about 45-60' driving. The cheapest way is to take the subway ($2) from downtown to Grand Central where you'll pick up the Metro North railroad ~$7-9 (Harlem line, blue) to whatever stop is best for you.

Yeah, then take the Metro North - New Haven line, red colored - in GCT to the Mamaroneck station. It's about 35-40', about $6-8.

google is a hell of a search engine, you might want to try it out, from what I hear you could type in something like "how do I get to westchester ny" and poof! You get an answer! Really pretty remarkable.

That's your best bet right there. I used to take the Bee-Line Express bus into the city but lived a two minute walk from it's route in westchester. Now I take Metro North when I don't want to drive.

Yeah, if you drive like a granny :p

Or if you leave at 6pm :D

BTW, I live in the city neighboring Mamaroneck. As others have mentioned, the best way is to take a subway to Grand Central Station and take the train :D

Good luck! Let me know if I can help.

Thanks everyone, I was going to go pick up a car this weekend, but it didn't fall through. Although I had decided if I went I would just take the Airplane. I would had been beat with all the long ride. Not to mention having had to drive back in the new car. It's little bit more pay, but worth it.
